I think the ATS chat's 200 post should be removed. Everyday we have people coming here to check out whats going on. The best way to catch a sheep is have him watch the discussion in the chatroom in real time. It also makes the whole thing look more legit because it's mroe like entertainment when you watch people type convos on a chatroom board. So its more to their tv brain's liking. They will learn more.

I feel the chatroom feature is not being used to its full potential on most 911 related and conspiracy websites as a whole. Not one has a flowing group of people in one chatroom talking about things. You would think that a conspiracy of this size should be put in a 100 person limit chatroom and make like 20 chats.

Lets let even unregistered people into the ATS Chat. We want to be welcoming, not shutting people off. I'm sure any spamming will be on the subject of conspiracies, and it will spark conversations about it.

There's nothing wrong with the organizational format of forums, but still let's have a chatroom going, I think it will be a great educational tool. Almost like a live conference.

It will also increase the discussion in ATS. Most newbies don't post 200 posts on ATS their entire ATS membership. It will offer users that know alot about conspiracies talking to eachother and either one not learning that much about anything. If you let visitors chat with the ATS members in a Live chat, Maybe we can have some knew sheep being changed to bulls. Well I just think this whole 200 posts and its need to fight spam is just hog wash. How dare ATS limit our freedom of speech highway's by putting such a large minimum post requirement just to chat about conspiracies!

Now that's a conspiracy!

Well I appreciate your comments because you can get to know more about people by chatting. The boards seem to be so fast moving and it is hard for me to figure out (as a new person)if this is the right forum for me or not. I will be honest I have been forcing myself to make a crap load of comments to get my 200 quota...Lets see If I POST 50 PER DAY, then I can get into chat...in 4 days.

haha Seriously I've known of a forum that made the limit 5 posts. But 200 post's seem's crazy to me. LOL

Well speaking as a chat "regular", I can say that the ATS chat is more of a hang out place for people to just talk and joke around. No one really talks about 9/11 or conspiracies. At least when I'm in there.

Just don't worry about it, keep posting, and you'll get 200 posts in no time.

Agreed -

As another regular, it's more a place to relax and touch base.

Those posts will come around in no time. Looking forward to seeing some new names in there.

*cheers*

You need at least 200 posts to be able to access the ATS Chatroom.

Look at it from this perspective guys, we have over 100 people signing up every day. Unfortunately, not everyone signs up with the best of intentions. If we allowed members who signed up today, to enter the chat room, it would be an all out drama fest. By implementing this 200 post requirement, it filters out those who register with ulterior motifs.

If you have not reached the 200 post plateau, I fully understand why you want it removed. But once you reach it, you'll fully understand why it is there. It's a small thing to work towards.

If we removed the 200 post restriction, I suspect chat would be closed within the week. Too many trouble makers, too much drama, and too many people who do not understand what ATS is. By 200 posts, members tend to have a rough idea of what it is we are doing here, and understand why this restriction is important.

Check out Below Top Secret for some laid back, relaxed chat. I'm sure within a week or two you can manage 200 posts on different subjects like movies, music, television, or any other chit chat subject.

As another regular of chat, I have to agree with everyone else who has responded. The chat feature of ATS has a 200 post minimum before you can enter for a good reason. If everyone who signed up had instant access, imagine how insane it would be in there.

There is a separate room in chat once you get there for serious discussions surrounding subjects such as the one you are interested in. However, chat is used generally as a sort of "break room" for us to just kick back and talk with each other. That feature would be meaningless if it was spammed and trolled like our regular boards can be by some members who just signed up.

Don't worry, it doesn't take very long to get to 200 posts if you are regularly participating, and by the time you get in, you should have a firmer grasp on navigating ATS, and will be able to further utilize chat.

Here is my "How to get 200 posts post"

There's lots of ways to make many good and fun posts.

You can find a topic(s) on ATS or PTS that you are interested in and post your opinion on those.

And then there is BTS . Yes the great BTS.

With threads like The Three Word Story!! , The Answer A question with a question game!! , Kill the post above yours thread!!! and hundreds of other games and threads on every subject you could imagine, you can get 200 posts and beyond in no time at all.

Enjoy yourselfs, and 200 posts will come in no time, and then 1000 posts and then 1,000,000 posts!!

What I'm saying is we should welcome the drama, welcome spam, welcome the non believers. If you welcome them instead of trying to shut them off you'll be able to conver them quicker. It also brings the truther's image alive because they are in live chat and not hiding behind forums.

The chat is for causual talking... i know that. But it shouldn't be. We should make a chat for drama and differing view points. We will win in the debates, just let them challenge us.

Dont' despair, you're 3/4 of the way there. You just need 49 more posts to reach the magic number.

I'm also getting closer to 200, having just joined in Dec. Got the 50 posts needed to U2U in a couple days.

Haha, as far as the 'newbies without the best intentions' one thing I'm thinking of doing to eliminate some of the 'noise' on the boards generated by these newbies and some of the barely literate posters is to just start liberally using the 'ignore' feature.

Thanks for the info, chissler.

We are not "shutting anyone up" and we are not blocking your "freedom of speech". The Administrators are merely trying to run a top notch site with as little drama as possible. Welcoming the spam, welcoming the drama? Spam is always inappropriate, but sometimes a little drama is called for. I wouldn't turn the other cheek to drama when faced with it, but why go out of our way to initiate it?

Above Top Secret is all about striving to be better. With a 5,000 point purchase, you can gain access to R.A.T.S. (Really Above Top Secret) With 200 posts, you gain access to the chat function. The more you post, the more characters you are permitted in each and every post.

So you see how there is a gradual process where different "luxuries" are applied to your account.

I see no problems with that. We've all been through it, and we are all better for having to go through it.

I am also a chat room regular, and I appreciate the 200 minimum post rule. It is definitely a hang out place; and I haven’t seen much of any conspiracy chat going on in there either. Just a bunch of friends hanging out and having a good time
