China "Develops" Moon Rover

I put the word "develops" in quotes because when you look at the picture, it's obvious to me that along with the Los alamos data theft, some NASA design documents have also gone missing.

SHANGHAI, China - Scientists in Shanghai are developing a nuclear-powered lunar rover for the country's first unmanned mission to the moon in 2012, newspapers reported Monday.

The six-wheeled vehicle has been under development for four years at the Shanghai Aerospace System Engineering Institute, where a laboratory has been outfitted to replicate the lunar surface, the Shanghai Daily reported.


Sure, the nuclear power part is different. But that's just because there is really no such thing as an enviromentalist in China to worry about what might happen if the rocket carrying their rover fails to achieve orbit and rains nuclear material down on some other part of the earth.

the rovers have well exceeded ten times over their expected lifespan. obviously its a very good design.
