Just curious to hear your thoughts on what role the U.S will be playing in the end times? I was reading some guys interpretations that Israel will be attacked by an invasion force led by Russia(Magog) and other Countries such as Syria, Iran and Turkey.etc and I was curious (if he is correct)where the U.S would be in all of this?(he didn't comment on that)

By no means am I saying this is going to happen this is just what he thinks is going to happen but it does have me asking myself where we will be when this happens.

Of course this is only for the people who believe in Bible revelations.

Well, America has been a defender of Israel since its inception in 1948. I don't think that is likely to change.

There are several references to the Eagle in the bible.

Another favorite passage for applied imagination is Revelation 12:13-17. These verses state that in the middle of the Tribulation God will provide a means of escape for the Jewish remnant in Israel. They will be carried into the wilderness to a hiding place on the “wings of a great eagle.”

Some people have seized on this imagery to teach that the U.S., whose national symbol is the eagle, will supply the end time air lift that will save the Jewish remnant.

America is The Defender of Israel

Revelations was written by a selfnamed john exciled on Patmos by nero and should be viewed in context of the times. it's not a prophecy for modern times or a prophecy at all imho but a warning to christians at that time.

I would like to say especially that context is really important, also realizing the bible has a history is important (e.g. the concept of mary being a virgin was not introduced untill the 17th - 18th century)

When you put Revelations into the context of when it was written then it's clearly about a grave danger christians and jews were in at that time: emperor Nero a.k.a. The beast, also known his gematria code 616 (666).

There was a real danger at the time that Nero would be the undoing of christians and jews.
Fortunately John's warning or as some call it his prophecy did not come to pass, Nero is no more and far later there are still oodles of christians and jews alive and well.

Btw would Zionist jews be saved? imho they are a bad bunch. (putting it lightly)

I don't know. The Muslims do believe that there will be a one world dictator before God establishes his kingdom, but they also think that there has to be an appearance of the "Mahdi" before anything can happen. Kind of like the Christians say that there will be an appearance of the "Two witnesses" before all hell breaks loose. As far as whether they get their ideas about the "end times" from the book of Revelation or not, I don't know.

If you look at the characteristics of Babylon, they fit America very closely. America is very possibly Babylon.

If it does, it would do so as one of the "Empires" represented by the Seven (and later 8) heads of the beasts of Revelation. I'm trying to figure that out now. In the book of Daniel, old testament, the empires are laid out thusly:

1. Babylonian
2. Medo-Persian
3. Grecian
4. Roman
5. Holy Roman

Then in Revelation, we are introduced to 3 more. These all follow the Holy Roman but are part of it and its ten crowned heads of state system. So, whatever empires followed Holy Roman, up till today, numbering not more than 3 from then to now. Can you name them? We can assume for this example that the USA might be in there as one of the empires, but which one? The current one? and which is the current one if not the 8th? the 6th, or the 7th ? And if it's the 6th or 7th and not the 8th, what's going to replace it as the 8th ? The 8th is the last empire on earth.

I've read the Bible a couple times, and there is nothing in my opinion that refers to America, directly or indirectly. However, this is a very subjective issue, and I could easily be wrong. I do think that the book of Revelation was written for our day, or at least soon in the future, but I don't pretend to understand most of it.

I am actually of the opinion that eventually, America may withdraw from the world scene. That may be why there seems to be little mention of it. Although, I still stick with my opinion that America is the defender of Israel... So..

Yes I agree. After Bush leaves office and the new President is installed, and as the battered troops are coming home on ships, we watch Iraq fully descend into ultimate chaos Mogadishu-style on our television and computer screens.

This ultimate blunder in Iraq will cause the next Administration to try to fix the problems that the last Administration created by going to war. They will have to fix all the funding issues, re-do the taxes and tax cuts, re-do which programs stay closed or are re-opened, and so on. So they are basically going to have a car on the verge of breaking down, however fast it may be, and so are going to be in the pit stop getting work done while the other cars are still racing on the track. The cars are all nations. Even though the Amercan car may be the fastest, if it's sidelined with problems .. its not even in the race, soto speak. The race symbolizes politics on the global scale, and global military conflicts and tension.

As to Babylon. Sometimes I feel like America is Babylon, that I'm living in it, yet then again sometimes I feel like they were talking about Babylon literally, the old location of Babylon, ie; Baghdad area. But Baghdad was not the vibrant world tradng centre that is depicted pre-God's wrath, at least in modern times. In medieval times it was vibrant. America on the otherhand has the United Nations Headquartered in New York City.

For all intents and purposes, the USA owns the U.N. and lets it exist within its borders. Now if America got hostile the U.N. could find a new country to sit in, but I think if the world's strongest withdrew, it would make the U.N. seem that much more illegitimate and weak.

Now, about the Beast. It says the Beast shall come from the Sea. People will be astonished by its' power, and some will "worship its image" (Idolize the Beast).

7 heads and 10 horns. Horns are for striking. Does it not say 1 head gets a total of 3 horns? That is 1 entity with 3 ways of striking. Canada, U.S.A, and Australia are the horns, Britain is the head. The 3 biggest members of the anti-terror campaigns overseas. In all 3 instances, its still an overseas distant land operation. They all come from the Sea. And gee, if the world was flat, all you'd need to have "The nations from the 4 corners of the Earth" prophecy literally come true would be to have Russians involved somehow. They are involved only in financing and weapons sales and such, but maybe in the future they will openly support certain rogue status militarily?

Then you look at Britain birthing the USA, Canada, and Australia, and the symbolism becomes even more clear, how these are 3 horns, 3 armies, but came from 1 head, Britain, the original empire, which now has military power but is not much of an empire. Also, there are 7 original provinces in Great Britain if im not mistaken. Many would argue why should Britain be the head; its not running the show, America is. Well, my interpretation isnt perfect, it may indeed be that way. I dont know.

Byzantyne Empire #6
British Empire #7
(and the #8th is really One Of The Seven, ! America is still aligned with the AngloEmpire but stands on it's own
[as described in the verse in Rev.])

Also to the OP, by thecry,
America or the 'west' is deduced,
if we are to link the idea that civilization/society/mankind
became degenerate hedonists in the days of Noah
and so it will be in the days up to the great tribulation...
resulting in a yet another time for Divine intervention

The 'Eagle' symbolism fits well with our present way of thinking,
but back then the Bull, Ram, etc which were used as national symbols related to the astrological/astronomical age of the time rather than any animals attributes or prowess to be the emblem of a national mascot.
consider that the 'fish' (early christianity symbol) went with the
Age-of-'Pisces', but was later replaced by the cross, used as a device to demote the old paganistic symbols & astrology

but getting back to the Empires, & the end-time 8th king (one of the previous seven)
the 8th , little horn/king, arising from one of the 7 empires,
could be possibly identified as the USA.
the 'Power' which the 10kings share, could be 'Nuclear Power'
& when Iran joins the other 9 presently in the nuclear club,
Then, there will be the necssary 10horn/kings at the apex of the 7 heads of the global Beast ....the USA is again in another group of likely suspects

100 years ago, none of this kind of interpetation was conceiveable,
in 100 years from now...this interpetation that has maybe 10% of the pop culture following won't even make a footnote in history....
imho

thanks

Hi David.
Revelation was written by the Apostle, *Saint John the Theologian''on the island of Patmos "for the Word of God and the testimony of Jesus Christ" (Rev. 1:9).
It is known from Church history that of all the Apostles , St. John the Theologian was subjected to incarceration on this island........Revelation was written for the end of times as the name itself means, to be revealed or will be revealed.....Apocalypse(Greek)
Revelation was written in a cave on PATMOS*(Patmos is located in the Aegean Sea to the south of the city of Ephesus and during ancient times was a place of exile)....revelation was given to the Apostle to write what he saw for all mankind...the year was around (81-96 A.D.).

Pic132Kb : 32 δευτ of cave split into 3
above site is in Greek.
The caves entrance has rocks..... which have split into 3(as best as my understanding in greek)
when Revelation takes place nobody knows.
what does Revelation tell us?
And thrice blessed is he “who reads and those who hear the words of this prophecy, and keep those things which are written in it; for the time is near…” (Revelation 1.3)...our end can come at any time...which is a warning to us all......

Book of Revelation,
In no particular order......there are
7 plagues
The Epistle to the seven churches,
the 7 trumpets,
Judgemenet of the people,
judgement of the Antichrist,
the new Heaven and earth....
more can be viewed here

*external source gathered information....
here book of revelation

e.g. the concept of mary being a virgin was not introduced untill the 17th - 18th century)

No it was not!
Where did you get this information from?
This is totally wrong......

"I shall put enmity between thee and the Woman, and between thy seed and Her Seed" (Genesis 3:15).
"the Virgin shall accept into her womb and bear a Son, and shall name Him Emmanuel, which means: God is with us" (Isaiah 7:14).
www.fatheralexander.org...

And that code 616 is in fact wrong!
In the Old Testament 666 is also present......a bit late now to start looking, but can do another time...

There are good and bad people .........God only knows each persons true intentions.
All people can be saved.

take care,
helen

it seems appropriate that the Eastern-(formerly Roman)-Empire
had a life of it's own, independent and in contention with the Western-Roman-Empire
....and even continued as the Turk-Ottoman Empire sometime after the 1400's CE.
The Byzantine Empire in one form or another lasted as a counterpart to the Holy Roman Empire & church until WWI.

also consider the Dream Vision in Daniel, when the King dreamt of the enormous statue...which had 2 legs [East Empire-West Empire]
then the feet/toes [representing the end-time geo-political structure]

enough?
in any case, i'm confident you can fill in the elements & continuity & symbology...
