Nun Says Late Pontiff Cured Her of Parkinson's

PARIS, March 30 -- For months she was known as the "mystery nun," an unidentified member of a holy order who told a Catholic Church investigator that she was miraculously cured of advanced Parkinson's disease after she and other nuns prayed to the late Pope John Paul II.

Now this 'mystery nun' has come forward. Here's a video of this woman giving here testimony of her miracle. But why am I not believing this??

I caught this story on CBC. Apparently this counts as a miracle towards the last Pope's beatification process. Here's the kicker, she was healed by praying with her sisters to PJP AFTER his death. Ok. I guess that counts in the miracle rule-book for many.

According to the accounts she in fact had been diagnosed with early onset Parkinson's (I think she's mid-forty-ish). Now her diagnosis is that of not having Parkinson's at all... too bad she didn't have an identical twin who didn't pray and had the same pathology and wasn't cured.

Like most religious stuff nobody can prove a darn thing... great story. My guess is she had a chronic viral inflammation of the brain's surface area that may have mimicked Parkinsons and her immune system kicked in and neutralized the virus... might still be a miracle even so.

You wanna bet that some University pathologist will want to cut her gourd open after she passes and see what's what with her thinkin' gear.

Well, from what I've been reading, there were many other's out there who claimed to have been healed by Pope Paul after his passing but interestingly enough, they chose a nun to be the 'poster child' for a such healing/miracle related to this Pope.
My guess is that because she's a nun, they have complete control over all information released to the public about her so-called 'miracle'. That's why they turned down those other so-called 'miracles' sent to the Vatican from those others who claim that Pope Paul healed them. (he's on the 'fast track for cannonization -- this is obvious)
In addition to this, Parkinson's Disease, like you said, is one of those illnesses where there are other diseases that mimic those symptoms of PK. So this in itself brings up numerous red flags and in short,... I don't trust the Catholic Church anymore. To think they can get away with such absurd claims like this is amazing. They obviously underestimate the intelligence of the general public if they think that anyone's going to believe them after all that's happened over the past few years with those pedophile cases!

This said, like you said, it still may be a 'miracle' that this person is no longer suffering from those PK symptoms... I pray to God that she's ok now and that she's cured of whatever it was that she was suffering from.

Maybe if you ran the article through a vocoder a few times and then turned on some snazzy Mediaplayer visualization you'd believe it more readily.

Ok, ok, Palasheea, stop screaming at me. I'm just messing with you. I'm not trying to be mean, just trying to keep a uniformity when I post in your threads.

hmm..
why could you not be believing this?

maybe it's because it didn't happen

or maybe it did happen, but it was just an as of yet unexplained medical thing instead of intervention from a pontiff.

I'm hoping the Church will allow all medical records of this nun to be examined by independent PK specialists to verify that she really had this disease, which is incurable, btw. The point is:

As many as 200,000 of the estimated 1 million people in North America who learn they have Parkinson's disease, a progressive disorder marked by tremors and slow movement, may be misdiagnosed because the condition requires special expertise to recognize and treat.*
