Bush made it very clear that he plans to veto the legislation to pull out of Iraq by next spring.
Is he that desperate to leave that kind of legacy for his administration?
Or does he already have his successor lined up to pick up where he left off?
When I can find a proper link, I'll post it.
This is serious!
The people, and the people's government are voicing their opinion, and the president of this country is not only refusing to listen, but he is openly saying how wrong we are for voicing our opinion.

Well, here is a related link, not exactly what I was looking for:

www.npr.org...

Now, to me, it's not about democrat or republican, but it's about people, which I've made quite clear on other threads.
This is more than just a party politic issue.

This bill is packed with $21,000,000,000 of pork.

If the American people really wanted this why did members of Congress have to be bribed to support it?

I'm curious as to what you are saying.
Could you elaborate for me please?
I'm very much interested.

The President is the Chief Executive and the Commander-in-Chief. He is well within his rights to veto the legislation.

We do not fight wars by popular vote in this country.

It's been a long time since we had a President with cajones and it's blowing liberals' minds.

Get a grip.

If the Congress doesn't like the veto, they can override it.

It's the way the system works.

Not only was this a bill to fund the troops, or to set a timetable for withdrawal. It was also packed with 21 billion dollars of "pork."

If any Senator was indecisive with their vote, all that needed to be done was to add money for pet projects in their state, to sway their vote. Or as some would call it...Bribery.

My question again is, if the American people really supported a troop pullout (defeat in Iraq), why would Senators have to to bribed into supporting this bill?

Goodness! Well there's no reason to be nasty about it. Sheesh.
But I'm compelled to ask, cajones?
Cajones you say?
Cajones indeed sir...for what exactly?
To send kids to get killed for...um...what was that now?
Oh yeah, um...nothing.
Right, well, when he decides to send his kids over there to fight, well then, perhaps I might agree.

Yes, I see your point.
And it is indicative of a sad state of affairs.
I wish my friend, that I had an answer for that.

Congress is full of
who change their mind every twenty minutes. They don't know what's right or wrong anymore than the rest of us. They are just playing for headlines.
