The LTTE is much more than meets the eye!

The LTTE has carried out what seems to be the very first successful aerial bombing sortie by a separatist/militant outfit in all history!!

The attack seems to have been carried out using a camoflaged Cessna which flew around 400km at night to drop its load at the Katunayake Airbase at Colombo.
3 Sri Lankan airmen were killed in the attack.
The attack was aimed at Kfirs and MiG27Bs at Katunayake.
This is a MAJOR leap in capability by the TEAF or TAF.
It remains to be seen whether the a/c were hit or not but the politcal/strategic damage has been done.
The LTTE had been known to have an Air Arm but it was mostly for ground based Air Defense.
India has immediately raised the alert status in the region and Air Defense Awareness has been heightened.
The a/c along with its pilots flew back to their base of Ops unscathed.

This speaks a lot for what such a/c can actually do.
The incident where that essna pilot flew th Cessna acrros the Iron Curtain right to the Red Square at Moscow comes to mind.
Another thing is that the Range an be effectively doubled keeping in mind that many LTTE operations are 'one way tickets'
