The more I watch the events unfolding in the Middle East, the more I support the wisdom of the First Amendment.

Any government controlled by religion is just trouble waiting to happen.

The First Amendment.....

Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof; or abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press; or the right of the people peaceably to assemble, and to petition the Government for a redress of grievances.

Why would Iran have a chip on it's shoulder?
remember Mosaddeg ?
the shah?

Colonialism is not some distant memory.
The West is judged by its actions not its words

I read an article some time ago, i dont remember what news source it was from but it was reputable.
Anyway, it said that this guy, the "religious leader of iran" was not to happy with the presidents rhetoric. Saying something about it bringing to much negative attention to Iran etc and was supposedly telling him to tone it down. So either it wasnt a real story or the president isnt listening to him.
I also recall a story that i read even before that one, it claimed that the presidents popularity among the people was surpassing that of the religious leader.
