DUBAI, United Arab Emirates -- The U.S. Navy on Tuesday began its largest demonstration of force in the Persian Gulf since the 2003 invasion of Iraq, led by a pair of aircraft carriers and backed by warplanes flying simulated attack maneuvers off the coast of Iran.

Please visit the link provided for the complete story.

Overall, the exercises involve more than 10,000 U.S. personnel on warships and aircraft making simulated attacks on enemy shipping with aircraft and ships, hunting enemy submarines and finding mines.

I think the US/NATO forces are showing Iran what will be attacking them if they don't return the NATO men/women.

It gets more interesting everyday.

NATO is a group of 26 nations pledged to protect each other in case of military attack.

As you can see from the link below, UK IS a member of NATO and there fore it's troops are NATO troops.

If what you were trying to say was the UK was not on an official NATO action, you are right.
They were working on an official action of the UN.

They are coalition troops..Australia is there and they aren't NATO..
North Atlantic Treaty Organisation in the Persian Gulf

All those countries are members of other organistions..NATO did not put them in the Gulf..Just because they are members of NATO doesn't mean they are working for NATO.

Monsoon, those forces are not there on behalf of NATO as Murphs stated, they are there as part of the coalition. NATO has nothing to do with this, just coalition. They will never be part of a NATO movement untill NATO comes out and says they are which they have not. Murphs is right, just because your part of NATO does not mean everwhere you go you are NATO forces. You will be ONLY if NATO HQ gives you the order to go there and says you represent them and their interests. By your logic then not only are those coalition people there on behalf of NATO (BULL!) but also the UN because the UK and USA are BOTH in the UN. Yet the UN NEVER supported the coalition. Do not distort things monsoon.
Irony eh? All those "coalition" members but for two are third world countries or just about as bad.

Edit: Australia is not third world but none the less they have a tiny army, thus keeping the irony going.
