Like that of Neanderthals? Or like other primative cavemen types which no longer exsist?
Could there be plans to exterminate us so that other more advanced alien crossed humans can populate the planet?

Well, actually, if we are able to meet with the aliens and they're not hostile, then maybe we can travel to they're world or something as a second home. Probably we can use it just in case Earth freezes into an Ice Age or collapses due to global warming or a super-nuke explosion. They may be our answer to survival.
That's my theory anyway.

Last thing I want to do is visit an alien's planet and find out we are the raisins in their box of "Raisin Bran." I'm not altogether sure that aliens are going to be sweet and loving and want to hold our hands like in "Close Encounters of the Third Kind." In support of my own theory (shameless self-promoter, I know! ), consider how often these themes occur in human mythology/fiction:

Gods or godlike beings responsible for the foundation of civilization.
A golden age in the distant past.
A cataclysmic event that almost wipes out mankind, usually due to man's "sins".
A select group of people who have communication with Gods and use this communication to direct the development of society.

It's kind of like whoever wrote these stories was trying to tell you something without telling you something.

An interesting thought but if true, you would have to wonder why these aliens left. Why not just take our toys away and ground us for a century or two? We feel better if we believe someone is watching over us when we're scared and in a bad situation. Religion is a coping mechanism. In my field, it is not uncommon for researchers to invent/acquire rituals, lucky charms & idols to try and get good results from tricky reactions. "If you don't leave a sacrifice of dry ice to the God of Ligation, it will fail!"

Kids blame themselves for their parents' divorces all the time but that doesn't make them responsible for the split. It is a natural way of reacting to helpless situations. How many times in a moment of powerlessness have you asked yourself, "Why me? What did I do to deserve this?" Natural catastrophes are NATURAL!



Just because people say they're special, doesn't mean they are. Anyone who wants to lead others needs to give them a good reason to follow. Loyalty must be earned and followers need to believe they are getting something in return. Hitler was charismatic too but I cannot imagine someone so evil having access to deities expected to adhere to a higher ethical standard.



I have been spending a great deal of time on this question lately and the motivation for civilization is not so straightforward.
However I have no doubt H. sapiens & neandertalis were always terrestrial. Others listed are probably bear sightings. All "evidence" I've seen was definitely fake.



Our environment has shaped us into intelligent beings capable of adapting ourselves to change. You vs Alligator. Need I say more? Adaptation: BRAIN. Fair fight?



My family is full of freemasons & the strangest gift I ever received from them was a book about evolution. I was crazy about it but always wondered why such "good Christians" would give me such a thing!
