what is spuggys argument then? What would "gun control" solve? By taking weapons away from me and other law abiding citizens, you would only make it easier for the criminals to have these weapons because they are lawless, on the flip side, you would only be punishing the law abiding citizens from having a means to protect there familys. Whats to stop the drug dealers from getting their assault rifles? My government has no right in hell to tell me, a taxpaying, law abiding citizen what I can and cant have. We are the ones paying their bills. We dont do this for them to take away our rights and privileges. So therefore, the US government serves the American people, not the other way around. Thats why its important that we fight legislation like this so that we keep it that way.

"To be envious of the greatest nation the world has ever seen"

I think Rome might have something to say about that one ( and Britain... and china... spain... etc.)

The U.S. is the greatest nation the world has ever seen for the simple fact that it is built upon by freedoms... not by a tyrannical governmental system like Rome, a falsified freedom like Britain, a communist dictatorship like China, or a falsified freedom like Spain, etc.

The United States of America is in fact the only nation on the planet today, that are actually free, thus making it the greatest nation the world has ever seen.

Now, don't confuse that with an example citing how corrupt the current and/or past administrations have been. Granted there have been, and will be, those that take seat in our Government that are corrupt, but they are not a true representation of our people.

If our "Administration" was to follow to the "T" our Constitution and what it stood for, there would be no comparison imaginable.

Freedom - 1 : the quality or state of being free: as a : the absence of necessity, coercion, or constraint in choice or action

Cheap - 3 a : of inferior quality or worth

Umm... nope. I don't think so.

The citizens of the United States of America, by the Constitution and Bill of Rights are people that share the grandest of liberties... freedom.

Now, do you have anything of legal credibility to back an opinion as to the topic at hand?

What drivel.

The US is rapidly mutating into a police state/nanny state.
Increasing levels of draconian gun control legislation are part of this transformation, which is equally driven by the political left and right.

The US has a larger percentage of it's population in prison than any other country, the vast majority for nonviolent victimless crimes lie drug possession. The only other country that even comes close is Russia.
Read it and weep.

While the US has strong Constitutional protections for things like political speech, in terms of your day-to-day likelihood of having a run-in with the government that lands you in jail (or for that matter shot), the US has become the most oppressive nation on the planet, and it's getting worse...

Our current Administration has in fact pushed the view of our nation in the direction that you speak of, however, that is not what this nation is.

Don't confuse the lack of concern for our Rights, Liberties, and Freedoms by so many apathetic people as a true meaning that our nation is headed "down the drain".

Easy bub. There are no gun laws in place and there wont be. This wont pass nation wide. and this is more of a leftist thing. The left wishes to be more like socialist europe. Many americans see this and do not like this.

As for jailing. We have the largest population in the industrialized world. Im sure china (a developing nation) has far more as well as india. And china is far more of an oppressive soceity then the US. Russia is as well. Britain isnt as free as america is. Does that make them and oppressive nation as well? I would have to say socialist europe is far more "oppressive" then the US is. the EU is the nanny state. and the ppl there seem to be fine with it..

America is the richest, most powerful nation that this world has ever seen. Which in part is what makes it one of the greatest that this world has ever seen. And our freedoms definitely put us up their in the "greatest" category... granted we are not perfect, but no one is.

Can we get the ability to award trolls as well, because I think this thread has some of the most quality trolling I've seen on ATS in years; funny the real witch hunt began here in the thread and not in the real world...

@ Spuggy

Congrats on the troll work, most entertaining however thankfully for those of us in the US you have precisely no real power over here; we have enough of your extreme left buddies here already working night and day, one less is always a plus. Hope you picked up the points you wanted, may they keep you warm at night.
