... the Sloan Digital Sky Survey (SDSS) is the most ambitious astronomical survey ever undertaken. When completed, it will provide detailed optical images covering more than a quarter of the sky, and a 3-dimensional map of about a million galaxies and quasars.

WOW! Very cool. I'd imagine , eventually the entire sky will be incorporated.

(Reminds me of the ST scene, with Picard and Data in the Virtual observatory.)

The Future is Now.

Can't wait to dump this dial-up.

Nice find, Neon'.

Waited entirely too long to dump this dial-up.

Fixed that quote for you JB.

But seriously, Bird speaks the truth. Time to retire that string and tin can set-up.

(Kudos for admitting you're still on dial-up. That takes Nards, homey)

Suggest test the outdoor flight characteristics of your modem. If it still works, repeat test.

Then order DSL. So simple a Caveman could do it.

But FIRST...(research and order DSL. Go for at least 768 Kbps)

Second choice (IMO) Cable modem. In some areas service is not as fast as advertized (usually 1-2Megabits/sec). In addition, some report cable modem providers have more downtime)

A nice high speed connect measurement site:
