Great FireWall of China. (Censorship)

First off Hi,
I Just registered after months of Lurking.

I hope this is in the right place?

Just thought some of you may be interested in the question of censorship?

I agree that sites with cruelty to children etc, should be shut down and evil doers prosecuted ect.

How long do you think it will be before our governments start to block and propagate the web by slowley cutting us of from information that may make people think?

Check this link out, on the BBC news site. It will give you interesting food for thought.
Will they ever try to stop sites like ATS?

Who knows what they have up thier sleeves for us all.

This is just another example of how governments think they need to "protect" their citizens. All I can say (to the governments) is stop trying to tell me what is best for ME. We are humans and I believe we should all have the choice to decide what is best for ourselves.

just finished reading a neat article that somewhat relates to this topic regarding censorship (the article pertains to books however) on DamnInteresting. i really liked this line:

Censorship is the act of cowards.

I think government censorship is dangerous, and obviously used to control and dumb down the masses. I also think it is cowardly. Makes me think, and thats what they dont want
