CHAPEL HILL -- Presidential hopeful John Edwards was back in North Carolina on Wednesday to attend an unexpected doctor's appointment with his wife, after canceling a campaign appearance in Iowa.

Doctors diagnosed Elizabeth Edwards with cancer in 2004, but she's since been in remission.

Doctors at Duke Cancer Center Raleigh say follow-up visits are routine for a cancer survivor.

Apparently the doctor's visit didn't go so well and Edwards is expected to make an announcement tomorrow regarding his wife's health that may impact his campaign.

I feel sorry for Edwards and his wife. He wasn't doing well in the polls, so if she has cancer again, I think he should just bow out and take care of his family.

I don't care much for John Edwards, but my advice to him is to take care of his wife. He has no chance for the Democrat nomination, so why put her through this?

So long story short, his wife has cancer that's metastasized to her bones and is incurable.

Yet Johnny boy continues in his quixotic quest....
