Use alcohol to remove water from your ears. Or hydrogen peroxide to clean them and remove excesses with alcohol afterwards. Wax is there for a
reason.
My local health food store where I bought my ginkgo tea closed up a few months ago and the ringing in my right ear has thus returned. I just ordered
a bulk box of ginkgo. Hopefully retreatment works faster than when I first started treating my tinnitus with ginkgo.
I recommend ginkgo tea or supplements to anyone with tinnitus. Aspirin will still set it off again, but otherwise night time is finally quiet time.

Yo, I just had this happen and was gonna make a thread then found yours... Lost of interesting opinions as to what this is, but to me it sounds like a
high pitch, then it fades away... It's been happening a lot lately... That's the only reason why I was interested... I've heard that you get this
sound when someone is thinking about you... ? Anyone else hear that?

My advice would be to start taking Ginko Biloba (400 mg) daily - and stick to it.
If the tinnitus is related to cerebro-circulatory problems, it'll get rid of it.
If it isn't, you'll benefit anyway.

I have heard of tinitis, and tried all sorts of 'behavior' changes to make it go away - but NOTHING WORKS!
At least I know I'm not alone (please tell me you not kidding - please).
Those wierd zingers are really freaky. Thankfully they happen pretty infreqently. (so far anyways)

Ringing of the ears is actually a very normal thing.. lol
Ringing of the ears happen because you've beeb exposed to alot noise poulltion beforhand. that explains the ringing. it goes away shortly after
depending on you A. look after your hearing and avoid pro lonf loud music in places such as a nightclub etc.

That's funny, because I could hear a mouse fart right now, and I haven't listented to any loud noise.
And my ear got a sharp ringing about 3 minutes ago.
I find your assumption to be correct to a standardized degree, however, the unexplained ear ringing is UNEXPLAINED =D

I think it has something to do with electromagnetic fields (pulses) also. I
always have ringing or humming, or high pitched noises, especially at night. When it is quiet and there is no noises at all (late night), that is
when it the high pitch noise is the loudest and never stops. Sometimes I have to turn tv or music on cause it drives me nuts.

A followup to say I have again successfully treated my tinnitus with ginkgo. It only took a little more than three months to retreat as opposed to
six months for the initial treatment. Pillowtime is once again quiet time.

I will try 'Ginko'... or at least ask for it
I am pained to treat a symptom without understanding the cause though - but I will look for it in my area.

Cochlear damage and/or decreased blood flow to the head are the usual culprits. From what I've read if you sustain inner ear damage while having
poor circulation, tinnitus is virtually guaranteed. My ears have been ringing ever since I stood too close to a speaker at a concert... almost four
years ago. Studies have shown ginkgo improves circulation and blood flow to the head, but the claims that it improves memory function and
concentration are bogus unless you already have an afflicting condition. However multiple trials have found it improves or eliminates tinnitus
symptoms in most patients.
I found my tea on
amazon. Two or
three cups a day. Extract pills will be a higher dosage and probably improve symptoms faster, but if you already drink green tea regularly (it's one
of the best antioxidants) it's convenient to toss ginkgo in with it. If you have a lot of environmental allergies though, pills are the best way to
go.

i tend to agree w/you about it being a type of warning, to be prepared for something catastrophic. take a look at
what i found in a Bible verse, 1Sa 3:11 And the LORD said to Samuel, Behold, I will do a thing in Israel, at which both the ears of every one
that heareth it shall tingle. i Samuel 3:11 bible.cc...

I've finally pulled my finger out and sourced some Ginkgo tea - I'm getting it from a local shop.. I'll see how it goes, I cant remember the
make off the top of my head (Dr. something or other) she has loads of brands available to her, it's cheap enough too, and if I settle on a brand /
notice symptoms reducing she will get better prices on a case
Not picking it up till next week tho - I could of got some supplement pills that also contained ginkgo, but I will see what regular cups of tea do
first - and update here if things go well.

I too have had a loud ringing in my ears for many years but it has been getting worse over the last year or so. Also get the sharp high-pitched noise
occasionally which really freaks me out as it is extremely painful. I have very sensitive ears - loud noise makes me want to run and put my head
under a pillow or something as it is physically and (I know this sounds weird) psychologically painful. I get very distressed when there is a loud
noise that I can't get away from or turn off - it may be something as simple as the next door flat's TV being too loud. The ringing in my ears
sometimes gets so loud that I can't help but cry as there is no way to turn it off and putting my head under a pillow just makes it worse as all
other sound is blocked off except the ringing! And I don't know if this has anything to do with it but my eyes are becoming more and more
light-sensitive. Weird.

I hear you
Seriously I know how you feel, I really think some of the problem (for some of the people) is this "electro magnetic soup" (for want of a better
phrase) that we live in - basically 24/7.
This link has been hanging around my bookmarks forever now - it's quite thought
provoking.
A series of experiments is described in which radar transmitters operating at 1,3, and 10 kilovolt megacycles per sec were "heard". Apparently,
the process of hearing did not involve the ear, but included only the brain and nervous system in the vicinity of the brain.
The effect takes place at energy levels that are considered safe for exposure all day. The effect is suggested as a means of aiding in the location of
hearing difficulties in persons. It is also discussed in connection with reports of the hearing of meteors and auroras.

Thank you Now_Then for posting this thread. I am 55 and began to notice my ear ringing in my 20's. Your symptoms are much like mine. I guess it's
always there but only when it's on our minds. For me the doctors could not help it go away.
I have experienced this. During the summer, a few hours after sunset I can go outdoors and hear insects communicating. Such as crickets and more. When
I hear the insects, it nullifies my tinnitus. The only other time I get relief is when I forget about the ringing. I mean, focused on something else.
But I still hear it every day.

You know I hear the ringing in my ears as well, especially when I meditate or am just relaxing and it will come out of no where and get louder and
louder and then disappear out of no where as well. I find it very interesting that this happens most of the time when I meditate.
