Whatever the new bar means, let's rush out and get a ruler and see who has a bigger one.

No one wants to be shamed in the communal shower.

i still think it may be based on something...

my old old bar was completely full (actually, it was filled with 4,000 posts)...

so maybe now the post limit is higher (maybe around 8,000)???

I've tallied over 9,000 and mine is slightly short of filled.

I'm interested in seeing what each shade resembles.

Well, I guess now they come in all colors and flavors, some are blue, gray or bright green. Let's get that user manual on the interesting color code and what it all means going... I too think that the new standard is 10,000 posts I have 7,800+ and it looks about right.

Well, a few of you members certainly have long bars, and Skeptic's is very impressive.

But I notice a member that has been on ATS as long as I have, and has a similar post count, but has no bar at all.

The No-bar Mystery

There appears to be a new threshold for receiving a bar at all. It doesn't appear to be the time a member is here, or the number of applauses that trigger it, but I could be wrong. I think it might be tied to receiving a certain number of WATS votes from the crowd.

I don't think so. Some recent members with onlty few posts and points got a tiny, tiny bar after all.

It does look like 10,000 posts creates the longest bar. As to why some people don't have one or what determines its color for those who do have one, I have no idea.

Some don't deserve a bar! apocalypticon, sorry man...

I'm curious about it too. I'll keep my eyes open for the color code. Pretty colors!

But it looks like size does matter. And color, too!

I wonder what mine means? Looks kinda pale... not enough oxygen maybe?

Someone open a window!

I suspect you're right.

We should all shun "No Bar" apocalypticon for now, until we hear otherwise.
All hail Benevolent Heretic for that wonderful yellow bar.

I'm sure SO will stop by and tell us what this all means eventually.

The length of the bar is associated with number of posts. I did calculations on the member selection of this page, using the formula
number of posts/pixel length of bar

Results were in the around 66.5 posts per pixel, the more posts the more acurate.

As for the colors I have no idea. BH shining yellow is the only one like that I've seen, so I suggest it's it express hapiness, humanity and the like, according to Color Symbolism

Green is -- among others -- the color of money. A snippet from the link:

During the middle ages, both green and yellow were used to symbolize the devil. Green is believed to be the unluckiest of colours in some western countries including, Britain, Ireland(where it is also the national colour) and the U.S.

Common Skeptic, we're cracking.

The ideal number would be 66 2/3 pixels per post (10,000 / 150).

I would think so too, 66.6666...

As for the color it has to do with number of applauses in combination with number of posts. BH got more applauses that I've seen anywhere.

And that undefinable grey-grenish-muddy for Brits and Euroes.

Yellow for the sunshine states.

You're on to something there, Umbrax.

...no bars for those from D.C.
