I think that the length could be the ammount of threads started. I don't think that the colour is based on applause. But who knows?

(This could be open to abuse though, so I'm probably wrong)

Yah, the new bar looks great, cool and discrete. But what does it say?

No matter color or length they all got the same name 0.gif. Guess it's the green, green grass club we're striving for now.

A few people still haven't got any bar. Mystery.

I agree with your previous John but I understand that expanding to a myspace type of presentation could draw more members in, like you I saw the immediate resemblance, but while I have thoroughly enjoyed being a member of this community, I know that I did not create or fund this site.

While I may have misgivings on the future of ATS, I can still enjoy the quality of the posters here at this time, my hope is that these changes do not degrade the quality to the point where I choose to go elsewhere...

Let me qualify my statement by saying ATS is the first and only site that I felt worthy of membership, and I have never regretted my choice...

But, yellow and green mixed, make brown and brown is a disgraced colour!

I suggest you go back and read my post again sport. I already said the post count was a waste of time determining how much a members content can be trusted, so that really only leaves us with the applause colour doesn't it?

Obviously I gave some too much credit in being able to determine that though, and by some I mean you.

I see that the new bar seems to determine more than that amount of posts now which is cool. As I said I just didn't see the point in it if it was based solely on the amount of posts someone makes.

I think the math behind the bar's creation is the first known use of this math equation:

some people judge others based on the amount of posts he / she makes

Not sure bout that. BH's is yellow, but TheVagabond's is a light pink. He might have the most applauses at 182, but not sure...

What I think it might be is a combination of Applauses and WATS votes received from the membership... Or just WATS votes by themselves?

And if it isn't, I think it would be real cool to tie that color to the combo mentioned above. Could be they've set a new color to shoot for as ultimate, and it might be white? Who knows, it appears SO has completely revamped the shading.



There appears to be a new threshold for receiving a bar at all. It doesn't appear to be the time a member is here, or the number of applauses that trigger it, but I could be wrong. I think it might be tied to receiving a certain number of WATS votes from the crowd.

I guess they'll tell us when they're ready, and this time around, I'm glad I've kept my mouth shut for a change and let SO work his magic.

Edit to add: what about bar shade=applauses+wats+flags?

Seems the longer the bar gets, the brighter it gets. I might speculate to say it would take about 10,000 posts to fill it.
