This may not even be relevant to this thread, but I have a question. And it's not about bars.

Even though I am logged in and can post on all 3 boards, when I click on the links in the upper right corner (AbovePolitics, AboveTopSecret or BelowTopSecret) to navigate to another board, I appear to be logged out (The LOG IN button appears and MyATS button is gone)

Basically, the home page does not pick up our logged in status, even though we are logged in.

These home pages do not pick up our logged in status. You'll notice that these pages are completely dynamic and are dictated by our own flagging. The threads we flag are the threads that appear. When we direct ourselves to the forum pages, suddenly our logged in status is recognized.

I hope this clears it up. Just remember, you are logged in! And you are only a click away at all times.

Because it is this link www.abovetopsecret.com... - the homepage where you aren't logged in. But once you click any further you'll get logged in.

I can see the text on everyones mini-profile but my own.



I've made no changes to text colour or anything, any ideas

To my knowledge, we are logged in. The board just does not indicate it.

I can see your text, but it's hard to. It's white on bright yellow.

Yeah anx, it is white on yellow on my end of things. Just swapping it to black in the ATS Store.

Seems to be working fine from my end, Anx. It's white font on yellow background. Hurts my eyes, but it's visible. Maybe a temporary fluke?

I see bars again!!!!

Bars in all colours! We have red bars, green bars, yellow bars; bars of all colours of the rainbow! Long bars, short bars, medium bars, and everything in between! If you want bars, come to ATS, 'cause we got 'em all!!

What is going on?

edit: Now I've got a bar! It's short, and very dark green, but a bar nonetheless. Are these like the old ones, the more applauses the brighter they are?

It may have just been a glitch while changes were being made by SO.

Good to see the bar is back. I'm intrigued as to the meaning of the colours now. Orange, blue, green, brown and some don't even have a bar

I'm not sure if I speak for anyone else but there's no chance in hell of me ever checking members extended profiles. I appreciate it's a cool 'myspace' mocking feature for people who practically live on this site, but for someone like me who drops on for a short period I'd rather spend my time looking at threads than at member profiles.

I feel that members like myself who only drop in briefly are being made to pay through a lack of information unless we're willing to dedicate more time to the board.
I'm sure this is baseless moaning on my part though.

The old bar was a nice quick way of determining whether a member could be trusted. Fair enough it was taking its toll on the server (the long loading times were driving me crazy), but if this new bar is determined by the amount of posts compared to the highest poster then I'd rather it was just removed altogether.

Post count tells you nothing about a member so what is the point of it? I appreciate the effort but it's a pointless feature and might as well be removed.

These new bars look decent. And you know what? So are the new member profiles. I would never join up to myspace or some such, but I've been here a little while now, and it's by far my favourite website. I've gotten to know some decent people through here, and I don't see the harm in sharing a little information with them and others via the profile. I mean, if you want to assume that means I have no life, that's cool with me but remember, when you judge something, you don't define it, you define yourself.
