I would say try the GIMP. Regenmacher has a link in the first post. Although it is a free program, it is a very powerful program, much more so than MS Paint.

Okay, sorry 'bout that.

Download "The GIMP for Windows (version 2.2.14)"

AND

"GTK+ 2 Runtime Environment (version 2.10.6, for Windows 2000 and newer)" (assuming you have WINDOWS XP)

From this page...

gimp-win.sourceforge.net...

The first one is the GIMP Program, the second is necessary runtime files that need to be installed before you can install the GIMP.

Any problems, let us know....

I have successfully downloaded, thanks. Now I have some learning to do.
I had a little play around in it but don't know what everything does.
It seems alot better than deep paint which I downloaded last night, that was just paint with a different name and layout...

Great! It is a nice little program. Once you learn some of the basics, some of the more complicated features will become much easier.

If you need any help using it, post a new thread here in Member Art (don't wnat to tie up this thread with a bunch of "how to's...." )

There are several members that i know of that use GIMP, so I'm sure that someone will be able to help you to sort out the confusion of learning a new program.

ShareCG.com seems to have some nice stuff. It's geared more toward the 3D side of things, but there are definitely plenty of assets that would be useful to the 2D artists as well.
