Are there NSA software bots harrasing us at ATS ??

Topic started on 15-3-2007 @ 11:25 AM by Alpha Grey

I come with a question......

Do you think it's possible for the NSA, CIA or DIA to have software that creates "bots" that come here and post nonsense and jibberish
to plague us here at ATS for disinfo purposes ??

It seems that VERY OFTEN we have a new poster who either posts some tale of fantasy or its an elaborate tale (with no proof) that we are supposed to take at face value...then either they disappear never to be seen again..or they constantly fight you with their conviction that they are on the up and up despite the fact they offer NOTHING in the way of proof and they rehash tales that others have told to be their own.

Anyone think this is possible about the "bots" ?? IMO something is going on here....it's creepy and damn annoying !!

What you are saying is very possible.

But at the same time think of it ; almost everyone has had at least one strange experience that they've rarely shared with anyone and ATS is a great place to share that experience.

So you're John Q Citizen coming to share your story (which may very well be true) and then a bunch of internet strangers demand you present proof , call you a liar and worse.

After sharing their story maybe they have nothing more to say or maybe they're turned off by the bad treatment they get in the forums.

I too have a strange story to tell. I typed it weeks before joining the forums (it happened years ago). I spent a full two hours typing my story, drawing pictures and so on to help explain my experience. However I`m not sharing it until people here `trust` me a little cause I don't want a bunch of people I don't know calling me a liar.

If the government did do such a thing they'd hire someone to hire someone to hire someone to do it. The people doing it wouldn't even know who they were working for. Nor would the person who hired them.

In those types of cases no one would really know who was behind it all.

In no event would they want such activity traced back to them since it'd only bolster our case.

But you can bet your bottom dollar the government takes some kind of "interest" in this and many many other web sites.

Well, no offense, but this is the type of place that will attract crazies along with people that are serious. The skill is picking through the BS.

I think its ingorant of us to assume that the most likely candidates for "disinformation plants" would be the obviously inane.

Maximus leverage can only be obtained from the most seeming creadible.
Most likely some of the most liked, most sensible and most articulate amoung us would be the most likely to be plants...

These people are the ones who could most adeptly effect the group in a controlled manner.
But the span approach is no doubt a weapon....on weather or not it is their main thrust or not this is not my place to speculate.

Im pretty sure thats completly possible, on a music forum I post on there is at least 20 spam posts a day, some of them have a story that ends in a joke and a link to a porn site, so I reckon if some porn site webmasters can create some bots that tell a story im sure the NSA can aswell.
