America is a very higly civilized country where torture is forbidden. We have an open and free press. We have 1500 tv stations.6000 weekly
publications.
The photo's you submitted are easily explained.
The 1st picture is of a guy on a strecher on his way to to be given medical aid.He was a victim of a suicide bomber probably.
The 2nd picture is of a guy who has dropped something and looking down for it/bending down to pick something up.
The 3rd picture looks like a white guy with pink buttocks with shrapnel wounds from a suicide bomber being examined by a doctor.
The 4th picture is some guy rubbing the back of his knees in a shower.
The 5th picture is of a KKK leader giving a speech on a small pedestal with ropes to steady him because he has a poor sense of balance or is quite
elderly.

The 5th picture is of a KKK leader giving a speech on a small pedestal with a wire for a projector showing his audience a slide show.Notice the
transmitter antenna behind him.He may have set up a small tv station to reach a bigger audience.

The above post is one of the most ridiculous ones I've ever read on ATS. And I can never believe that the member really means what he's saying
there.

I honestly think, that the our dear member beckybecky really means what he is saying - or if he does not, he sure finds his sickening comments about
the torture photos extremly funny. In few posts here, he has proven that he does not think before writing anyway. And I wonder, if he does think at
all...

Have to agree that the post in question was way over the top. Was the post an attempt at sarcasm, only the poster knows. However souljah, before you
adopt a "holier than thou" attitude, I would remind you of some of your previous posts where you "seemed" to be advocating and or condoning
violent actions against innocent (non-muslim) people. Maybe you were just attempting to be sarcastic, too?

With all due respect Sir - are you trying to compare my statements to ignorant posts written by beckybecky? If you want to do that, please show the
entire audience this kind of post in which am I, as you say, advocating and or condoning violent actions against innocent (non-muslim) people?
But then again, perhaps you aree with beckybecky and that is the problem you are having.
In any case - none of this is the topic of this thread.
We have gotten WAY out of context here.

It doesn't matter why we did it, we just did do it. Tens of thousands of Americans died, we sent Europeans weapons and aid before going into the war
and even banned businesses from sending Germany aid. I know Europeans think you could have won without America and that we are misinformed, but that
doesn't mean you have to play down American efforts. Millions more would have died if the US stayed out fully, and some of that number would have
been in England from starvation.

I can say from an Australian view point that we are eternally grateful that America did get involved.

him) through his prophet mohammed (may allah bless him and keep him) we became a truely civilized peoples."

I find myself very conflicted about Iran... or should I say the Iranian government and its religious instituitions. I am a Baha'i which rose out of
and transcended Shiia Islam in the mid 19th century. It is still the home of the largest Baha'i community, whose members make up the largest
religious minority in Iran. Consequently I have known a lot of Iranians and to a person they are splendid people, vibrant, passionate and full of
spirit.
At the same time the Iranian government and religious instituitions have systematically prosecuted the Baha'i' community relentlessly for 163 years.
Some 20,000 were tortured and killed in the 19th century. Since the 20th century and most notably since the 79 revolution they have executed over
1,000 Baha'i's, closed their schools, shut down their instituitions, dug up their cemetaries and bull dozed their holy sites and now they are
systematically denying Baha'i' children and youth access to any form of education.
The government needs to be changed but the United States has no place even threatening to do it (like John Bolton suggested over the weekend) muchless
doing it and the Baha'i's of Iran like Baha'i's everywhere stay aloof from the political fray. We of course have our own political opinions but
that is not the same thing.

oh i have to say that any of the muslem people ive ever met be they iranian, iraqi, afghani or whatever country were the most wonderful people ive
met. i cant say enough good things about them.
but, for iraq its the fanatics causing the trouble.
and iran, i hate to say but that whackjob in office is writing checks that the iranian people may end up paying in blood.
that would make me very sad.

Sorry, my friend. The Americans were driven out of Vietnam.
3.5 million Vietnamese died to save their country.
58,000 Americans died for nothing.

It was alright. Nevertheless, I really think Frank Miller was trying to make a propaganda flick. He is a pretty far-right guy.

Finally got around to watching this film. Might I point out that I enjoyed the graphic novel's visual style, even though it bears no relation to
reality it was an enjoyable throwaway read.
The Immortals are good fun in both the comic and the film.
The film on the other hand is utterly appauling. I'm not going to even approach the notion of politics or racism.
I'm not entirely sure what accent Leonidas was supposed to have - seemed like a very poor Sean Connery impression. The dialogue was like nothing
I've ever witnessed, stilted, unintentionally amusing (generally whenever Leonidas or another warrior opens their mouth), and very very boring.
Oh..... and a CGI extravaganza! Yet again cgi effects admirably drain any life and sense of proportion from the action scenes. I was prepared to be
dazzled by Xerxes teeming millions, instead all I got were computer animated puppets doing very little, three guys in white body-paint with horns on
their heads (????) and an appaulingly modelled and animated armoured rhino!
I've pointed out my opinions regarding the depiction of the persians earlier in this thread, and I still stand with what I've said in the past.
So, that's my personal opinion of the film. The film itself is a sad pathetic mockery of the art of film making, and due to it's dreadfulness alone
it is a landmark in cinematic history.

Theres an irony about this whole thing. The movie is not based on real events. The persians were great people, we owe much to them even in this day
and age... But the Iranian government said it was a propaganda move on behalf of the enemies of Iran lol. What's funny is almost every foreign film
is banned in Iran, but this film apparently is quite widely available!
