If the advertiser is a mailing house, they are under no obligation to be legitimate as they're most likely a quick-turnover/ fly-by-night

...if one were to connect the dots from such a innocuious exchange,
some suspicions may come up as to.....
? how come i'm suddenly getting stuff stolen while i;m at work?
?How did my parked car get a flat tire?
?Did I lose this-&-that...or was that stolen too?
