Well if they'd let me design it it'd look so much cooler, seriously. Cool is the new black.
My epic struggle with commonsense and the MS Paint, has taken another turn for the worse since I last shared my pretty pictures of conceptual aircraft
and things military. So without further ado let the geekery continue!
Stealth STOL fightter with much larger internal weapons bay that F-22, almost as cool as the Rautenflugel, almost!
And a 3D model of my design built by someone else:
Now tell me that isn't a cool kite!

That is beautiful planeman, and the old joined wings too, they've never looked cooler. The engines look a bit old hat though, at least a striking
resemblance to the RB199 on the nozzles of that 3d rendering that is streaking away!
I'd love to see it done in plastic.

Cheers I think that there should be an internationally recognised rating for aircraft coolness from 1-10, where 1 is Boeing 737 and 10 is the
Rautenflugel. This is a 9.3 I think.
The 3D model is slightly different from what I had in mind especially the rear fuselage, but it's cool anyway. The Engines are Al-31s cos as usual
I'm designing with Chinese equipment in mind (Sinodefence). It was originally intended as a carrier fighter but the wing fold is a bit of a
challenge...
Here's a related design more for interdiction and strike:
Do you hang out at www.whatifmodelers.com/forum/ it seems your sort of place.

At least it fly's.
anyone can draw a plane, all the good ones work for aircraft
Manufactures and probably draw thousands of concepts.
Sounds like Raptor bashing to me.
Eurofighter would be boring in concept rather than the Raptor

Yes I do visit there, I've posted a few models of my own too, but not as many as I'd like as I don't have the time.
With the interdictor it looks like a bit of a CG nightmare with the wings out, have you considered allowing the pivots to move aft as the wing sweep
decreases? This might mitigate the trim change.
Here is the crudest diagram in the world to illustrate my thought. Of course the big question would be 'how to?' while maintaining weight and
structural integrity targets. You can call it a challenge if you like the basic idea
Unless of course they are retractable rather than VG?
Jezza, a fine exercise in 'missing the point' I think. Why are Raptor fans so over sensitive?

The coolest prototype I have seen is the X-29 Switchblade, but then what do I know, I still think the F4-Phantom is cool.

It sounds exciting. Do you think the Chinese will have the ability and courage that making their design a real product in the near future? Are there
any problems with them?

For me the coolest thing I've ever seen was the XF-108 Rapier and the YF-23.
Too bad the cool ones never get built.

nice aircraft, but with the ucavs (cheaper and better) around the corner it could be a waste of money.
thats why i don't understand why we (britain) are spending billions on the f-35, we might as well wait.

Well you're expecting UCAVs are going to replace manned flight altogether.

Latest concept, a VTOL fighter with a very narrow fuselage and wings that fold almost at the root so that it takes up least space on carrier:

Shattered OUT... No! Not all manned flight ; (how would you fly to your Costa del Sol holiday ? Virtual flight? But ; there is little
necessity for piloted strike aircraft, missile-equipped Predators have adequately demonstrated that! Without the weight and size of a pilot and his
bang-seat, oxygen supply, need to see out clearly, etc etc, and his personal limitations, (ie G limitations, need to sleep, eat, and take a dump now
nd again, the aerial vehicle can be far more efficient, and just as important, a more agile and smaller target. Also. no need for an enormous
supporting pyramid of man-power to support pilots, aircraft, equipment, large airfields, etc etc. Nor for an enormous tax-swilling aviation
industry.

I find these designs sooooo cool that the Americans and Russians NEED to build them!:
Some Russian SF fighter/bomber:
PAK FA NEEDS to look like this!! It just has to be!:
Something wich the Americans would just cream their pants by just the thought off it:
Thats right, a full blown stealth F14!!!
Those are the things that NEED to get built.
