[/eIsrael warns its citizens to avoid Egypt, Jordan
07 Mar 2007 14:18:31 GMT
More JERUSALEM, March 7 (Reuters) - Israel has warned its citizens to immediately leave Egypt and Jordan, the only Arab states with which it has full ties, out of concern they could come under attack, a government official said on Wednesday.

The advisory was issued on the recommendation of Prime Minister Ehud Olmert's Counter-terrorism Unit, which this week placed Egypt and Jordan in its highest threat category, alongside enemy states such as Iran, Syria and Lebanon.

Israeli officials gave no further details.

Israeli-Egyptian relations were strained this month over allegations that Israel's armed forces massacred Egyptian prisoners during the 1967 Middle East War. Israel denies it.

Makes one wonder if Israel is plannin to attack one or both of these countries. If they do, it will be interesting to see how it effects everything that is going on over there right now. Does anyone know of any other reason a country would advise its citizenry to avoid an area other than having strategic plans to attack it?

The Anti-Terror Center in Jerusalem advises Israelis to avoid those three countries where the hazard of terrorist attacks and abduction is exceptionally high at present and in the Passover period. This warning was issued earlier for the favorite Israeli resorts of Egyptian Sinai

In regards to Egypt,I found this

Egypt: Strike wave shakes Mubarak regime
Published on 06/03/07 at 13:44:53 CET by chinaworker.org

Ruling elite fear social explosions

John Dale, Socialist Party, England and Wales

The biggest strike wave for decades has swept across Egypt in the past three months - a country where strikes are illegal and demonstrations of any sort face brutal, bloody repression. Tens of thousands of textile, cement and poultry workers, as well as railway workers, shipyard, municipal and hospital workers, took action, including factory occupations. Anger erupted over low pay, poor health and safety, privatisation and management corruption - and over government-run trade unions siding with the employers.
Barely reported in the western media, this strike wave is of major importance for many reasons. Egypt has one of the biggest and potentially strongest working classes in the Middle East, with a long tradition of struggle. The fact that this section of the population is taking action, independent of any other sections of society or political parties, represents a new, progressive and hugely significant development. This is especially the case in a region where discontent and anti-imperialist sentiment was often channeled into parties representing the ideas of the most reactionary sections of political Islam.

Workers Revolt

You have to wonder if this may not be a plausible reason as well.

I doubt Israel would attack either Egypt or Jordan, but perhaps they fear attacks on Israeli citizens in those Muslim countries if they attack Iran (the most probable attackee).

Well, if Israel attacks Iran, they are likely to get a swarm of suicide bombings via Palestine and Syria.. I don't know. I'll be honest, I wouldn't want to be in Israel's predicament, but I guess there is nothing they can do about geography.

Intersting that they would declare that. It is a clear sign saying they expect something to happen to Isrealies, or Isreal is going to do something that will make them a target (which most likely would be the Isreali's bombing Iran)

I doubt america or europe would let Isael attack Egypt now, theve changed their tune a lot in recent years. But attacking Iran is pretty suicidal, theyd have to go through Joradn, Syria and Iraq, pretty much the worst case scenario facing any kind of invading army to have to go through, especialy if you pissd of Damascus.

Just for fun, I tried to thing of the "wackiest" interpretation of the alledged warnings.

1.) A false flag will occur and Egypt will be blamed.

2.) Iran 'sticks up for Egypt.

3.) IT starts.

4.) A new "holocaust".

5.) The world must never forget - we forgot once.

6.) Nukes!

Deessell, you may have said that tongue in cheek. However,I wouldn't laugh to heartily at the prospects of such a scenario. It could certainly happen.

One thing that we don't understand in the west is just how volatile everything really is in the Middle East. They are a different people. They react to things entirely differently than we do and they will lash out at a moments notice. This doesn't only apply to the Arabs but Israel as well.

I have been on this earth for almost 30 years now and I don't remember a time when there was peace in that region. There is constantly some goings on over there.

Thanks. I just thought of the ending though.

7. Usury comes to the Middle East. That is really the only difference between the religions. Muslims still practise what they preach (in respect to this aspect).
