Great stuff tealc!!

As they say, "every little helps", my friend - *if* we had 4000 users producing 1 WU per day, we'd crunch 28 000 WU's every week - or 1 460 000 every year (and 1 464 000 in a Leap Year!!)

Now, *that* would get us moving up the team charts pdq, wouldn't it?!!

Hi Oswald!!

Well, according to SETI Spy, there are 201 CPU's (users??):

at the last time of checking (just minutes ago!!)

Hope that helps?? BUT, notice the WU's per day returned too!! P

I joined today

and signed up for the ATS site listed earlier. I assume there is nothing else I need to do to ensure reporting to the group but if that is wrong please let me know.

Hey all! I've had SETI at Home with ATS on my comp for months, but I just noticed this thread. Running a 2.4 ghz P4 and have about 726 hrs and 97 data units done. This is a great program, but I've got a question about the SETI client: Does it take up cycles when you need them? Like, if I were playing a game that needs all of my processor, would it take up some?

Thanks,
GravriderX

Hi graveriderX!!

Welcome to the ATS SETI@home team my friend!!

Don't worry about S@h client "stealing" your cpu when you need it: it is specifically designed to release the cpu when other applications demand: it was intended as a screensaver (as you know) so any application will over ride it. I am a gamer too - when I play a game (typically Black&White!!) all that happens is that my WU crunching time "extends" beyond the normal time, nominally the time spent playing the game itself!!

Thanx for your invaluable WU contribution grX!!

so far in the past 6 days that we have had our group statistics up on the SETI@work site, out of 271 members 98 have been active, It has been going up slowly , I don't know how long it will be before all of the figures start to settle down. So far the average number of work units per day for our team is 426.8. Not bad going at all

heres the link to our page, the total stats for the team are at the bottom of the page.

Hi pantha!!

Thanx for "logging" us with SETI@work - I tried in vain to find their email address when I kept looking!!

Yes, despite some people being inactive, or going over to BOINC, the "origianl" ATS SETI@home team is still going great guns - DirtyDevil is set to overtake me - s/he's packing some kit from the look of it!!

Thanx again p - we're narly at 120k WU's now!!

As a note to the seti group, please dont discount me as inactive, although I have yet to update the last couple of weeks, and probubly a couple more.

Reconfiguring the new system, and setting up some better software, and will re-install when near complete.

I'll be back.

Good luck with the upgrade/refit, smirkley. Are you getting any exotic or exciting hardware? I'll be looking forward to seeing your new rig crunch.

I am dedicating a used Ohio Scientific C2-4P
to crunch Seti via a Kansas City Standard device.

Should be interesting if I can make it work.

But my regular machine is being completely redone,
re-using much of the original peripherii.

Things began to act screwy about this time,...
www.abovetopsecret.com...
A couple other 'odd' occurances since then.

It gave me the mindset and motivation to change everything.
Upgrade a couple of things too.
It may take me a little while to get back to crunchin'!
