Hi Spica!!
Sounds like your machine needs some maintenance work my friend??
Have a look at the threads in another SETI discussion
www.abovetopsecret.com...
where we talk about improving performance by "cleaning out" temp files, defragging etc. Some (freeware) software is mentioned and linked to and this
might help your machine " get better"??

Hi Ladies and Gentelman,
I'm active.
Genya, i would like to thank you and all the others for help that you provide to our new members.
I wonder if there is any way you can track down ppl like "TCAB" or "djastram" and ask them to rejoin the group and help us again?
Sinchron

Welcome to the team Sinchron. I was wondering if we should ask SimonGrey what his opinion is on all of those that aren't active in the team, as he is
the actual founder of the ATS SETI group and therefore the only one with editing powers over the group.
There is an option for him to remove inactive members.(As long as it only removed those that had never submitted work units and didn't include those
that hadn't submitted any for a long time as we wouldn't want to lose any work units that way)
There is also an option for the group founder to access member e-mail so if he was willing to then he could ask around and perhaps jog a few memories
of those that joined the group and then didn't go on to run the SETI programme.

Greetings Sinchron!!
It'ss *fantastic* that you've "joined" ATS my friend - I've often wondered *who* it was who took *my* second place on the ATS SETI@home team
board!! Believe me, you're *most* welcome - I'd gladly be at the bottom of the table, if everybody else had thousands of WU's!!
How's about trying to catch Bob88??!!
Thanx for your very kind comments too Sinchron - well, SETI@home - and "our" team's contribution - are very "special" to me - I actually "found
ATS" from searching for a team to "donate" my WU's to - and what a fully immersive cyberspace this is!!
Well, I know what you mean about those people who have - apparently - "stopped" running SETI@home Sinchron. I've never had (knowing) contact with
them but have always imagined they've "moved on" to BOINC or some other collabaorative networked analysis, like "Climate Prediction" etc. As
you'll see from some of my "early" posts, I had (have!) a fear that the ATS team will dissolve when SETI@home *does* move totally to BOINC (which
it *will*) so having an "identity" here should help us all "migrate" across as a cohesive group (which is what I'm sure we all would like to see
happen?)
So, thanx for "saying Hi" Sinchron and for the 5000 plus plus WU's you've "cracked". I'd like to get my 5000 certificate - and, if possible -
produce 99% *more* WU's than others - but *that* will be very challenging!!
We all look forward to your posts Sinchron - not just SETI@home but all you're "into"!!
Good job!!

Hi pantha!!
Well said!! Well, I'm sure Simon wouldn't mind bein contacted directly ( I did once before when the board went through a "make-over" and was
"left off!!) although I think it would only be a courtesy to approach via the moderators Theyre Here and Nyreff in the first instance. We also *know*
John Bull is very keen (thanx!) on promoting the team, so perhaps you could contact them pantha and copy your comments to them??
I *still* haven't heard anything regarding the "points/ status" issue incidentally - but, being a "positivist", I *haven't* heard anything
"negative" either - so "no news is good news" in my book!!
Go ATS SETI@home team!!

I took your advice Genya and sent a U2U to nyeff about the inactive members in the group.
I don't know if anything will come of it but I suppose that if the accounts remain in the group then at worst the member page just looks a bit
cluttered.
It doesn't really matter as long as the rest of us keep on pumping out those work units.

Cheers pantha!!
It'd be good, I think, if we each take a turn at contacting the "mods" - not to "spam" them endlessly, but just to remind them we're here and
acting towards the "common good", which I'd define as making sure ATS SETI@home team is making an impact on those WU's!!
If we can do this *now*, any resultant move to BOINC should be relatively "easy" and we'll keep the team together, cos we're a pretty good team,
IMHO!!
Still no response from *my* emails re points/ status - I'll share any news when I get it!!
Go team!!

I'm sure that nyeff won't mind me posting the u2u I just received about inactive members
Ok, I brought this to Simons attention. I think there are going to be some changes for Seti in the future.(good things)
sounds like our SETI group is on the up.

hi pantha!!
I've quoted in full, since *everything* in your post is fantastic, reading between the lines!!
Well, what what John Bull has told us, I'm pretty sure that Simon *is* very committed to ATS SETI@home - we *do* have "splash" on the home page
afterall!!
Thanx for *all* your hard work pantha - and everybody else too, of course - good job all round!!

have you only just joined the group?
I know that the member stats can sometimes take a little while to update.
if you follow this link
setiathome.ssl.berkeley.edu...
it will take you to a user account area on the SETI site and you can request your stats to confirm which group you belong to, to make sure that your
registration worked. Hope this helps.

Where can I go to see the different teams that are active and how many WUs they've done? I want to see what other people are doing compared to us.

Hi KZ!
The place to do this is from the SETI@home home page, or directly via:
setiathome.ssl.berkeley.edu...
You'll see a link for "Top 200" in various categories, like Schools, Clubs, etc. Hope that helps?

Thanks for the link Genya
Upon looking at that list, I have to say holy sht, we need more people, more computers, and probably more hours in the day if we're even going to
get close to the top 200 groups.

You're welcome my friend!!
Well, *now* you know why the "drive" to try to "recruit" more members to ATS SETI@home team - ok, we'll *never* get in the top 200 club (that's
a challenge!! ) but it'd be good if, from our 4000- odd (no comment! ) members, we could engage a few more than the 200 or so people
currently "active"....
So, let's get cracking thos WU's people!! Go team!!

It would be a great achievement if we did by some miracle get into the top 200, but one way of looking at is that it's like buying lottery tickets.
you could buy thousands of them but it only takes one to win the prize.
(actually we have got more chance of winning the lottery but thats beside the point)
we just have to hope that one day our team will find that one unit.

Hi pantha!!
All agreed! Yes, the chances of finding *the* signal are as likely to be by the *next* person to run SETI@home, as one of the "super" clubs who have
already cracked the 200 000 barrier (or whatever!!)
So, the *next* person to join SETI@home - and also join ATS team - might get the kudos - and real thrill - of discovering ET - wouldn't *that* be
cool?!!
