These are the richest to the poorest countries in the world ranked by assets and debt! Don't give up! We are on the list...you just have to look for a while! o ;
I don't know if "bankruptcy" is a strong enough word to describe either the moral or fiscal condition of our government. The following info is from the CIA World Fact Book updated in February, 07. Look at the evil Russia and China...
Both countries have 100% literacy levels, compare that to 50% in usa, where you have numbers on menus in McDonald, so people can order without reading the menu ... and you get a $1000 fine if you pray in a public school .... 3% read books, and 2% ever stepped inside an art gallery ...

While they are getting more freedoms, here the freedoms are getting taken away from you ...
If the American Media would tell the Truth, the Whole Truth and Nothing But the Truth for just one week, that's all it would take to stop the war cold in its tracks, impeach Bush, Cheney and Rice, restore the Constitution, disband the Federal Reserve and the IRS, end the madness and make Freedom, Honor and Justice synonymous with the USA again...one stinking week!

One of my main arguments against the possibility of a North American Union, is the idea that Canada will have to share the American debt... NO THANK YOU!

Canada $ 20,560,000,000 2006 est.
United States $ -862,300,000,000 2006 est.

Our economy is doing quite well, we don't need that kind of debt on our shoulders.

BS statistics. ^

Also...economies are based on more things other than debt. To say the US is the poorest nation doesn't make sense at all. We do have the highest amount of debt, but we don't have the highest percentage of GDP of debt. Plus...our assets far exceed our debt.

Good day

That's weird considering I know that Australia isn't in debt, and has had left-over money for a few years now.

These are current account balances for the respective countries?

I find some hard to believe. The UK has, for serveral years, run a surplus, at least up until Iraq. I am going to check these figures and what they mean.

Ok, even a cursory glance at official statistics shows the figures to be wrong (CIA for ya!). The UK's current account balance is £9.4 billion. You also, I don't think, understand what it means. It isn't what the nation has in the bank, but rather the measure between inward and outward transactions, plus there are other economic indicators to consider alongside this.

ROFL. I also agree those are BS. I mea, Bulgaria is better off than the USA? And Fiji and Guatemala better than Bulgaria? Yeah, that doesn't make sense.

Wrong America has a literacy of 99%. Im not sure where you got that info... and i garentee china does not have 100% literacy... how can you even say that? Use common sense before making up another statistic.

so people can order without reading the menu ... and you get a $1000 fine if you pray in a public school .... 3% read books, and 2% ever stepped inside an art gallery ...

The numbers are ment to make it easier then saying, "I would like a Super Jumbo Wumbo Burger Meal" it also makes it easier for the person taking the order. If they say a 2 then the person taking the order knows its a meal. Another made up statistic... more then 3% of Americans read books.

For the most part the media dosn't lie to the public, however, they cover the things that shouldn't be covered. I.E. Anna Nicole Smith's death

China has a literacy rate of at best 20% of full understanding of their written language of Mandarin and the second largest dialect...

As for numbers on menus - it's because I like going to an In-and-Out and saying A number 1 cheese and spread only instead of spelling it out for the moron.

This person should be banned for ignorance?

The poorest country... No #?

Damn... stop sending Africa all that Third World aid then

Economics 101, Debt by Internal Brute production shoud give you already a fairer picture of the situation of those countries that simply checking how much they own

Real Basic Economics: Let's say my neighbor has 25 000$ in debts, he's working at a mcdonald at minimum salary, damn that's a big debt for him...

Let's say I need to repay a friend for lending me 250 000$ (I have real good friends)

That's humongous! .... but Am I really poorer than the other guy? Let's see... If im the vice president of some wellput corporation, and that my yearly bonus average 5million dollars.... Isssh.... Even if I don't have the money RIGHT now, I know im richer than my neighbor

And Overall, those numbers have little meaning by themselves

We've all seen how accurate that is - Chinese has over 2,000 characters...no their literacy rate is not 90.9%

Actually it seems that I'm right and you're wrong....

repositories.cdlib.org...

Determining literacy rate in China is extremely difficult. Mainly because it's difficult to say "what is literate" due to the many dialects and many many double meanings.

To say China has a literacy rate goes against their own official declaration of 85%...but furthermore, ignores the fact that China itself doesn't really know how literate people are because people who may misunderstand certain characters may understand other characters that may or may not convey a similar message.
