www.cbc.ca

A soldier from Nova Scotia died Tuesday after being accidentally shot while in his tent at the military base in Kandahar, Afghanistan, CBC News has confirmed. The soldier, Cpl. Kevin Megeney, was shot in the chest, the family told CBC News on Tuesday.

The Defence Department would only confirm that Megeney died of a gunshot wound shortly after 7 p.m. local time. "Enemy action has been ruled out, since the incident occurred within the secure confines of Kandahar airfield."

This is absolutely infuriating for me personally. This young man comes from a small town, not thirty minutes from where I am located, and he has given his life for what? Don't get me wrong, I always support the troops. But honestly, what is the incentive here? This current war in Afghanistan is a god damn joke, and our Canadian boys are dying for nothing. I mean, how many Canadian kids have been killed due to friendly fire since arriving in Afghanistan? Forty Five Canadian soldiers have given their lives thus far, and I am willing to bet that at least ten are due to friendly fire, or an "accidental" shooting.

It is a load of crap, and I am so sick of hearing about these young guys losing their lives.

Steve.. do us all a favor and send our boys home.
