Box cutters were found on 2 other planes when searched after planes were grounded on 911.

www.emergency.com...

A U.S. Justice Department spokesman confirmed that box-cutting tools were discovered when planes were searched for evidence after airliners were ordered grounded just after the attacks. The DoJ spokesman couldn't confirm how many box-cutters were found or the routes the planes were flying. But another government official, speaking on condition of anonymity, said they were discovered on two planes.

i remember this, didn't some guy leave this on the planes a couple days before to show how easy it was to smuggle weapons onto planes?

Personally, I don't see the meaning/purpose in this. It's not as if they were found during searches of the passengers on these flights.

Years ago I worked for a company that catered in-flight meals for Continental, TransAmerica and Eastern. It certainly wasn't uncommon that I lost a boxcutter here or there. Actually, there was the odd occasion where one of the regular flight attendants would find and return them, on their next flight thru.

Prior to 9-11, a boxcutter was a boxcutter ... not something that would draw any immediate attention nor focus. a harmelss tool.

Since then ... well, ???

Basically, the fact that they found such on 2 planes and not two persons means little in my opinion. Shear happenstance ...

I think there are more important needles to seek in the haystack we refer to as 9-11.

Problem is they do not say how many box cutters were found. If it was more then 1 on each plane then i doubt if it was just 1 left behind by someone.

If thier were at least 2 more planes involved then that would mean thier was probly 2 more targets.

Anybody looked into AA flight 23? It had five Arabs aboard on the morning of 9/11, demanding to take off when they were grounded due to the attack and the guys all left. Allowed to leave it seems. Never found... No links or anything, just something I remember.

Wonder of they left boxcutters there?

My bad.
"62. Sept. 11, 2001 - United Air Lines flight 23, scheduled to fly from New York City to Los Angeles was delayed after four Muslim passengers began demanding that the plane take off immediately. This happened apparently after the first plane had hit the WTC. The passengers were thrown off the flight. [Source: The Globe and Mail, June 13, 2002]"

False report? Why no talk of the 21st-24th hijackers in all the hallaballoo since then?

Sorry, I guess it's a major side-track. Any stories of smuggled-in cutters are probably irrelevant. The inside job arguments are much bigger than such a piddly detail. Who smuggled in the hole in the air defense? This does fit into the "embarrassing breach of security" paradigm mandating tighter controls etc., and will never be disproven or substantiated - too embarrassing to admit, too useful to discard.

Don't forget about Delta Flight 1989.

256.com...

[My spouse] and I and six other fellow [...] employees were on the 8 am flight from Boston to Los Angeles on Tuesday, but we were on the Delta flight [1989], the one out of three 8am flights departing Logan that did not get hijacked. Instead, we were forced to make an emergency landing in Cleveland because there were reports that a bomb or hijacking was taking place on our plane. The pilot had radioed that there was suspicious activity in the cabin since one of the passengers was speaking urgently on his cellphone and ignored repeated flight attendant requests to stop using his cell phone while in flight. Also, there was an irregularity in the passenger manifest because there were two people [with the same middle eastern name] who were listed but only one aboard.

Finally, a caravan of cars bearing FBI and Treasury agents and bomb sniffing dogs approached our airplane. About twenty or so armed FBI agents and police officers boarded the plane and said there were concerns about our flight and that they were taking precautions to rule out any further danger. We finally were allowed off the plane, told to take all of our personal items and leave everything at the edge of the tarmac. While our personal effects were examined we were taken to a secure building at the airport where for three hours we were interrogated at length about any unusual or suspicious activities we observed at Logan that morning or during our flight. We were all alarmed and distraught about the dribs and drabs of information we were slowly getting from our telephone calls (none of us was able to see a TV or listen to a radio) and feeling unbelievably lucky to be alive.

The agents interrogated two of the passengers at length and we later learned that one of them had an expired drivers' license and that the social security number on his license did not match the one he gave. Despite these unusual circumstances, we were all eventually released and went back to the airplane to gather our belongings. We were then escorted out of the airport without going through the main terminal to avoid what the FBI called a "media circus" because the mayor of Cleveland was holding a press conference stating that there was a bomb on our plane and a hijacker in the cabin.

I agree with you until you say a harmless tool. People can't hijack 4 planes with harmless tools.

I've heard numerous stories about other attacks on 9/11 that were prevented, foiled, discovered, etc, etc. One of those was a Ryder-style box truck filled with explosives in one of the tunnels or bridges to NYC. This attack was somehow prevented and the Arab passengers were detained by the FBI, allegedly. Supposedly, my brother's friend at the time's father was an FBI agent and revealed that this did happen but that it was being kept quiet. That's all I remember about that story. My guess, if this is a true story, is that the government wanted to keep it quiet to prevent even further panic on that day, or maybe so they could interrogate and possible turn the terrorists into spies without al Qaida's knowledge. I know that last theory is far-fetched!

I also remember hearing in the media on that day that there was an incident on an Amtrak train involving some middle eastern men, but it supposedly turned out to be nothing. I really think that there have been a lot more close calls with terrorist attacks on US soil than our government let us believe. Everything from anthrax to truck bombs to planes exploding/crashing (TWA flight 800, as well as the plane crash in NYC months after 9/11). But this is all speculation, so who knows?

I was referring to the pre 9-11 mindset, when much of what draws scrutiny today wouldn't have caused nary a second glance or thought.

I still wonder about that. How did 4-5 guys with box cutters, those wimpy little things, hold up an airplane of 150 people?
Impossible.

Actually the bigger question is why the pilots of 4 planes never got off an emergency call or signal and why they turned over control of their aircraft to the hijackers.

Anything's possible dude. That one actually seems feasable. Actually taking the cockpit is unprecedented tho and should not have been allowed. But there were five of them, fighting trained, we're told. that doesn't explain the air defenses failing at the same time, nor how they were allowed to just board like that, fully teamed-up w/box cutters despite all warnings.

How about guns on board? Mentions on both Flights 11 and 93 (also the ones that sent messages to the passenger out to the towers "please remain seated").

And thanks Ultima for the 1989 info! I never actually heard about what happened inside the plane. I wonder what the guy was talking about? Aware of the attack and obsessively keeping himself on the record? Why didn't she mention what he was saying? Was it in another language? Arabic?
