So most of you on this thread think global warming is crap.

Here is a simple experiment for you to try at home. You will need,

• One chair
  
• One person
  
• One car
  
• One garage.
  

Now this is simple. Park the car in the garage and leave the engine on. Then close the garage door and sit on the chair inside the garage and wait to see what happens?

If your feeling lazy I'll tell what will happen. You will DIE!! This fact is definately NOT propaganda. Don't believe me? Try it yourself then.

Now that we have established that the gasses produced by burning fossil fuels is toxic to life forms that inhabit this planet, wouldn't it be reasonable to assume that Billions of cars and trucks spewing these gasses into the atmospohere will have a detrimental effect on our enviroment? On ourselves and other living creatures. After all, the earth itself is a living being, is it not?

The global warming is coming from the solid particle matter that is spewed from exhausts of cars,trucks and factories all over the world. Billions of tons of it pushed into the atmosphere each year and it is slowly blocking out the sun, somewhat like a nuclear winter, only it is being formed at a slower rate.

Mankind is destroying this planet, it's just that he dosen't like to admit it!

But your thought experiment really doesn't work because the earth isn't a closed system like a garage is. And even if it were, there would be enough room for trillions or quadrillions of garages - more than enough to hold the "billions of cars".

Here we go again........ I find it amusing that one skeptic claims that scientists want us to live like cavemen. What load of f....... rubbish. Is this the kind of pathetic lies you need to resort to make to your point.

The number of skeptics among the scientific community is diminishing every year. In the last 5 or so it has plummeted. What does that tell you? Oh let me guess they have been bought off by Greenpeace!!!!! They have had their lives threatened by liberal tree huggers. NAH they are diminishing because the evidence that they were and are wrong is increasing. However, that doesn't stop some people from cherry picking the research to "prove" that global warming is a myth. Take a look at the stuff posted by Muaddib.

Never believe bits of informatiuon posted here. Read it for yourself. Not the stuff selectively chosen on certain websites (either side!) but the full research papers. Now you will need to have a bit of intelligence to read these because they go into some detail and are not written for tabloid newspaper readers.

One last thing. Global warming is occuring. Now irrespective of its cause the effect will be quite dramatic. The global economies WILL suffer. We still need to grow food and the distribution of flora and fauna will affect this. Do we as human being sit back and do nothing about these changes or do we do try to mitigate their affects? Well if we do nothing this would be the first time in human history that we haven't! Of course we will but we have two paths to choose:

1. Counteract "normal" variations - Exceedingly expensive.
2. Reverse Human causes - Much cheaper than the above (ironically)

So skeptics, if you're right, then the costs will be far far greater than if you're wrong. In either case to do nothing is stupid beyond belief.

But Earth is a closed system Centurion. It is a series of interlocking systems that feed off of and support each other. That is how a living system operates, and humans or not, the earth is a living system.

This is pure quackery. Let's go with your thought for a second. If "billions" of cars are spewing pollutants into the atmosphere and these same pollutants are allegedly blocking the sun then doesn't it stand to reason that it should be getting colder, not hotter? Oh wait a sec didn't Muaddib already point this out:

Muaddib provided a very detailed analysis backed by data. What I see from a lot of the greenthumbs here is just snappy comebacks and rhetoric. No one has refuted Muaddib's data why is that? If its so obvious let's see some constructive feedback instead of lamenting about personal thoughts and conjecture. Don't misread what I'm saying either. Reducing the amount of pollution in our atmosphere should be a priority no question there but man made pollution is not the main cause of climate change.

Reports have come out recently which state state Mars is actually heating up and suffering from a form of global warming. If true how exactly do we mitigate that risk? I guess we could reverse human causes but that isn't going to do a whole lot now is it?

Your quick to accept that its mans problem but it may be something much bigger and no amount of human intervention may be able to prevent that.

I don't understand why Gobal warming is viewed from such a black and white platform? Is it possible that Global warming naturally occurs but is being accelerated and intesified by Humanity at the same time? It only takes a few degrees to throw nature off whack. Couldn't this be a case of both sides being correct

THAT is precisely what the vast majority of scientists actually say about this issue. They are not the one's muddying the waters as it were. The nay sayers have their own vested interest in confusing the issue but yes the earth does flux in tempature but we are adding to it. I have never read a serious source and I have read alot on the subject that claims we are the sole cause.

That is my general view as a scientist, but I have certainly been taken to task for it here on A.T.S.

For those of you claiming that global warming is a money spinning stunt, couldn't the same be said about the global warming skeptics? In fact, if money is the sole driving force behind the agenda of either side, surely gloabl warming skepticism is the horse to back!

Well, I back a lot of horses, usually playing Australian tracks at night from here in the U.S.

Even so, no one in either camp has offered me a cent for my thoughts on global warming. Should it ever occur, I will make full disclosure, right here on A.T.S.
