In a signed article published by the People's Daily on February 27, Chinese Premier Wen Jiabao said that China would advocate peace, development and cooperation, and always pursue an independent foreign policy of peace.

The article, titled "Our Historical Tasks at the Primary Stage of Socialism and Several Issues Concerning China's Foreign Policy", said that China is at the primary stage of socialism now, and will remain so for a long time to come.

Its a very interesting read on how China has developed socialism and Wen talks about the political rights of the people.

I feel that the Communist Party will stay in power, but have elections regarding some of the positions within the legislative bodies.

They already elect some local officials already. I believe i heard on the radio a while back that they even want to have an elected mayoral in their much talked about "eco-cities" they plan on building. I really do hope they succeed.

i never knew they held elections in China...learn something new everyday
