In 1982, the U.K. and Argentina both had claimed the Falkland Islands as theirs, each possessed some of the islands that make up the Falklands, then
there was a "conflict" and the U.K. ended up in possession of
all the Falkland Islands. Argentina still sees the Falkland Islands as part of
their country.
Britain disappointed over Falklands
snub
Now British officials invited Argentina to participate in their 25th anniversary of the conflict, what kind of reception did they think they would
get. Of course Argentina "snubbed" them, Argentina sees the U.K. as occupiers on Argentinean land.
The only thing that surprises me here is that British officials might have actually thought that they would join in on their anniversary
festivities.
