WASHINGTON - Democrats in the US Congress struggled Tuesday to find consensus on the best way to exit war-torn Iraq while still trying to provide sufficient support to US troops deployed there.
The US Senate had considered taking up an amendment proposed by Democratic senators Carl Levin and Joseph Biden which would revoke the president's 2002 authorization to wage war in Iraq.
We need a political solution to this. We're losing 20 soldiers in Iraq each week. The war's costing us about 425 million dollars a day," he said. "It's obvious the course must change."
