I live in Springfield Massachusetts. I just want to know if any of you know any "secret" bases near my area. (somewhere within 100 miles would be great.)

I am currently on holiday break from school for the next 2 weeks. I was hoping I could put my plan into action before I go back to school.

Heres my plan. I have a remote controled "blimp". Its about 4 feet long. The regular range is about 1 mile. But my friends (who also want to go with me, and will if thir parents let them.) and I have amplified the range to 3 miles. Im preaty good with these types of things. I used a russian "radio" ammplifier. I bought it on Ebay for 12 bucks.
Anywho I hooked it up into the remote to amplify the signal at a higher frqency (1.2 GHZ) and bought additional RC parts for the blimp itself.(I have yet to instal them) But so far had relitively positive success in geting more range on that baby!

Anywho, inspired by Subscorpions pics of the cammos of area 51 from like 25 feet away. (way to go dude!!)I will basicly do the same, but I will take pics from the air.

Has anyone seen those pop ups for the "X-Cam"? its small and light, perfect for the blimp to carry. (iv done tests. As long as the x-cam is lighter than 2.5 pounds, the blimp will have no problem lifting it.)

Ill strap it on, and let the thing loose into the airspace of a "secret base" It dosent exactly "fly", it basicly floats. It uses 4 fans to propel it at a steady speed of 5 mph.SO at an altitude of 3000 feet, it should not be picked up by radar. (although it may be, but what flyes at 5 mph at 3000 feet???.)

So basicly if you you have any suggestions or info on any bases near my area(it has to be close, i dont have a car, and have to use my moms)

Thanks.

Don't know about any bases, but could I suggest making sure you paint it a colour that will blend it into the sky if you havent already? Also maybe a few dummy runs over non-secret bases without the camera attached to see what if any reaction there is.

Thirdly, it might also be a good idea to minimise the actual time spent transmitting to the blimp, like use the prevailing breeze to drift it downwind over the site. Hence minimising any chance your signal can be located.

Thats a good idea. the color of the bag (lack of a better word, you know, that thing thats full of hydrogen.) is silver, and the plastic under it is black. Those are colors that no doubt can be seen in a blue sky. Ill paint it blue or something. Can anyone recomend a paint that wont wheigh the thing down?

I have flown the thing about 1000(?) feet over downtown. Im not sure what the reaction was. I saw a little girl pointing to it, by none else seemed to pay any attention to it, if they even noticed it.

I'm pretty sure the signal will be located but also probably jammed.

And as a former military, I can tell you that if a guard see it, he will shot down it. BANG BANG BANG......

Yeah but he will be flying high i guess so maybe a guard wont see it but also my favorite quote "bullets are cheap" that might also happen if it gets shot down

Couldn't that be easily classified as espionage? Those bases are secret for a reason.

3000 feet is way below the 3 mile range. What if I flew it higher?? As for the jamming signal....Do they have to figure out what type of signal it is,in order to jamm it. Or do they have some sort of a "one jam jamms all" type thing?

I will defenetly paint the thing to blend in with the sky, so that elimanates the shoot down thing.

Radio Jammers are usually a broad band type of affair with a central frequency and a lot of harmonics produced which are higher and lower than the resonant frequency. Because the spectral band is so wide a number of jammers would be needed to cover most equipment available out there.

I assume you are sending your data live and a spectrum analyser will pick up any transmission in its bandwidth if someone just happens to be looking at it.

This is a situation where your odds of being caught are at least 50% and if so they would take this thing down. But as you have pointed out it may not be noticed at all for various reasons. Good luck, but I doubt you will see anything secret at most known established military bases at least from the sky.

for when we get to the base (about a mile out). I never planned on recording any secret stuff. Just to prove that its there, or as a side project.Gatta do something over this break to keep me from going nuts.

The car we are planning to use is a 2002 Ford Explorer. It allready has a tv in it. And we will hook up a vcr to it, and have the thing running through the lighter. Im planning on spending some more money to try and improve the range, but yes, the signal will be live. That way we can just tape the live signal, and if the thing gets shot down, we hop in, and speed down the dirt road.(i assume its a dirt road, look at area 51...)

But yes, there is a posibility of someone tapping into that live feed....but as long if its not jammed, than hey, what do I care??

Well you have one thing to your advantage, a radio receiver is a lot harder to find than a radio transmitter. Also if you have live video feed then you should know what is going on with the craft at all times, in other words you will know when to run for it or not.

As intruiging as it sounds there might be repurecussions
if something goes wrong. With all the terrorism paranioa nowadays ya might end up with trouble ya dont need.Someone could report suspicious activity. What if the blimp crashes and gets confiscated? It can be traced back to you by prints, model parts, etc. Not trying to rain on your parade, just think seriously.BUT if ya get good footage share it.....hehe.

100 Ways to get yourself thrown in Guantanamo bay.

This would get you arrested for sure, the military isn't composed of grunts only, there are dedicated electronic emissions people and i guarantee they will track you down.

And btw.. the charge will be Espionage and/or Treason.

Ill just stand out side the base are. where signs mark the border. And besides. Im 17. Not 18. I dont think ill be detained in gitmo.Plus my friends are starting to have second thoughts after reading all this. But still, if Im OUTSIDE the base....than wont that help me?

But now that I think about it. My family came here from russia when I was little. I am a american citizen now, but if I am detained or something, will they say im a russian spy or something??

But this still hasent detered me...although it did scare me some. So can someone tell me where I can find a "secret" base inm New Wngland? Not Fort Drum, thats not a secret base. Thats just a base.

at least if you get caught you can tell them about this thread to prove that you did just for fun. Thats if "they" haven't read it already and are waiting for you to make your move.
