Or is the search button on the top of the screen gone?

Just when I wanted to search for something

It's the fourth button over from the left.

It's now called "Advanced Search".

Yeah, but that was always there, and there was also one on top.

Advanced Search is too complicated for me

Heres a cool picture I made telling people to use it.

you're going crazy, mate!

but that's besides the point.

Actually, S.O. removed that search bar, it was causing problems with page loading, making pages load slowly.

S. O. explains the change, in this thread...

www.abovetopsecret.com...

It might be a good time to suggest, or ask for a link to that feature...

Oh, I see what you mean now.

There is a link at the very top of each page called "Conspiracy Search" that takes you to a page with that search function on it.

That's not quite the same though.

It searches through a number of conspiracy related sites.

The Google search that was embedded at the top of the page, only searched for items on ATS.

Oh, must have skimmed over his post too quickly. Sorry about that.

I did like that search though

Well then, let's make a suggestion to have a link to it somewhere on the pages.

I'm sure that many members miss this feature, including myself.

Hint, hint, S.O.....

Count me as one of them. I know the advanced search is supposed to be better, and that's fine. But it was simple enough to type in exactly what I wanted and get it through the google search.

Of course, I guess I can always just go to google and search through them.

The Advanced Search has a bad rap, and I can honestly say it is undeserving. For the longest while, I was vocal about how terrible I thought the boolean search was. Then I listened to a few tidbits of information from the Admin on it, and it really worked. My problem was that I was always searching for the titles of threads, which rarely turned up much. When I aimed my focus towards the content of posts, it came back with everything I was looking for. In the millions of posts that we have on ATS, if you are looking for one specific thread, you can find it quite easily. It took some time for me to understand how amazing it was, and I think others would to if they gave it a shot.

In the above shot, you can see a few fields marked out. If you enter let's say, "chem trails" in the field and selected the "thread posts only" and then selected from "the beginning", you would see all of the posts with that term in it, since the creation of ATS.

If that is not efficient, what is?

I've honestly never used the Google search that was embedded into the site. After getting familiar with the Boolean search, I would not waste my time with anything else.

As Mech said, it's been removed as it was potentially causing higher loading times. However, I have had intermittent contact with ATS for some time now, and the removal of this function has made no difference that I have noticed.

I also miss it.

However, I'm not trying to bitch, just attempting to share a little information.
