Martin Scorsese's Best Film To Date!

Jack Nicholson, Leonardo DiCaprio, Matt Damon, Alec Baldwin, Mark Whalberg, Anthony Anderson, and Martin Sheen lead one of the best casts of all-time on this Martin Scorsese classic.

I think it was one of the best movie's he has done to date. If he does not win the Oscar for this one, the whole process is a sham.

Years ago, a powerful Irish mafia figure placed a small selection of his youngest, brightest men into the Massachusetts Police Academy as cadets. Their purpose is to eventually rise within the prestigious ranks of the city's police department, to serve as the eyes and ears of their boss. While somewhere else, a young cadet was assigned with an equally dangerous task: infiltrate the Irish syndicate headed by the man sending in his own to the Boston Police. Now, one cadet is an up and coming police official with a torn allegiance to his job and to the criminal mastermind that put him there. While the other cadet is the trusted number two of that man, only finding his professional duties are becoming blurred with his current state. But new clues have lead to unfortunate discoveries, when both sides realize they're being watched by the enemy. It's now all just a matter of time before the men assigned to find out whose the infiltrator, could come to a bloody end when someone's identity may be revealed.

This is one of them movies that in ten years, it will be even more appreciated for what it really is.

Tops 'em all in my opinion. But I will acknowledge that I think "Bringing Out The Dead" was one of his most underrated films. I loved it.

I really loved this movie, my only complaint is they REEEEAAAALLY played up the accents a bit too much. They kind of sounded a bit silly.

who's? Matt Damon and Mark Wahlberg are from boston and I think one, or both, are actually southies. The only accent I found a bit irritating was Sheen's as he seemed to still be channelling his inner kennedy.

The movie was great and I do agree that this is finally going to be enough for Scorcese to win (boxed it on the pool). I don't know if the future will allow this one to be appreciated further as it might wind up muddled into the sequel/prequel and get taken down a notch. The movie is based on an asian film, infernal affairs and that film was such a hit that two more were made. one taking place before, the other after. Not sure if they were as good as the first but they were all hits and they are working on adapting the second for the US. Not sure who is involved but when you have a hit in hollywood, you go for the sequel, no matter how hannibal I mean horrrible it might be.

Chissler, for the record, it seems like the way to win the pool will be thru the smaller awards unless there is a major upset in the top categories.

Whalberg's character in this movie was a deal breaker for me. He was a supporting role, but his addition really put this movie over the top. He had me in splits a few times, on scenes that were not meant to be funny. His demeanor was impressive. After watching this, I clearly see why he was nominated for this. I previously was looking for Eddie to win this one, but I would have to stand by Marky Mark. Eddie will probably win, but this was an amazing performance by Whalberg.

As for Damon's "in and out" accent, I liked it. That first seen in the Rugby match with the Fire fighters was classic.

I didn't mind it. Was not up to bar with Damon's or Whalberg's, but it was nothing that took away from the movie for me.

I would beg Scorsese and the cast to avoid any sequel, prequel at all costs. Leave this one sit as is. Although I agree, if they try to sponge of the success of this, it will forever taint it's history.

Yeah, I looked through that and I think some of the 5 point categories are fairly concise.

Damon was great in the movie and deserved more attention. Agreed that wahlberg really showed up the whole cast, as did Baldwin.

The contests is going to come down to animated short or documentary this year. nobody sees those movies so it's a total crap shoot.

That scene where DiCaprio meets Sheen and Whalberg... I think I could watch that over and over again. It was surprising to see a movie starring Jack, where he was not the driving force behind the movie. Jack is Jack, and he tends to make a movie by his own presence. But his role in the movie was what you expect, utterly brilliant, but I really feel that it was the supporting tandums that put this one over the top.

I am really glad to see Anthony Anderson beginning to take more serious roles. His appearance on Law & Order SVU hopefully showed him the light. These ridiculous comedies he has been doing for so long need to be a part of the past.

The guy has a lot of talent. He has a reoccurring role on Fox's new hit, "Til Death".

Very funny.

Oh no, he was more than good enough. But it shocks me to see of another cast member on a movie outshining him. I think DiCaprio, Damon, and Whalberg were better than Jack on this one. That shocks me. Jack was better than Sheen.

To see that these three were better than Jack in the film is not a discredit to him. It is merely an extra pat on the back for those guys. Jack was his same old brilliant self. But on this one, those three guys really stepped up.

This movie was absolutely AMAZING! If Scorsese doesnt win an Oscar for this one than something is definitely wrong.

what other cruddy comedies were you reffering to? three men and three babies, or whatever it was called?

I wasn't referring to anything specific, because honestly, I don't think I could name them. Flash me a trailer and I might recall a few. But off the top of my head, I'm drawing blanks.

And a big congrats to Martin Scorsese getting his long over due Oscar win(s) tonight.

However this being his 'best' film to date,I disagree with that.

I think his 'best' film is Goodfella's,but that being said,Taxi Driver is by far my favorite.Travis Bickle..what more can you say about him,the epitome of an anti-hero.Matter of fact,I even have a Travis Bickle tattoo

The Departed was simply awesome. But my fav is Casino & Good Fellas as a close 2nd.

Working in Boston, I appreciated the set. I was able to watch the Departed being filmed a couple times. I was able to meet "Marky Mark" back in the old days and actually met Matt Damon a few years ago (didn't like him)

That being said, the Departed was second to GoodFellas.

The movie did win three. It won Best Movie, Best Director, and Best Film Editing.

I thought the movie was good, but with reservations...

I personally thought it jumped around too much and I was not happy with the ending... UGH!!!!

But with a cast like that, how could you go wrong really...
