Look at this Republican field so far...it's disgusting!

Rudy Guiliani - Pro Abortion, Pro-Gun Control, Social liberal.
John McCain - This guy is a freaking loon.
Mitt Romney - Not electable.

Newt Gingrich is a candidate that can energize the Republican Party.

Imagine the debates between Newt and Hillary. That would be classic!

'Gingrich says to mull decision on White House bid'
By Matthew Bigg

(Reuters) -- Former U.S. House Speaker Newt Gingrich said on Wednesday he would wait until September before deciding whether to run for the Republican party's presidential nomination and described that race as "wide open."

Hold on Republicans! Help is on it's way!

Yes he's socially liberal. But he ran for his life on 9/11. He will NEVER FORGET. That's most important for America. Even though I hate his stand on gun control, he has my vote.

Is ok.

Just wait for third party candidates. Your bound to find someone in there that better fits your ideas.

I'm sure that the dems would love to square off against Newt. The man that had his wife served with divorce papers while she was in the hospital with cancer, so he could run off with a prettier, younger woman.

Newt is a sterling example of the moral values embraced by the one time party that campaigned on moral values.

Newt makes me ashamed to be a republican.

rrcon, you can add this arrogant little twirp to your list too.

Pleeeeeeease bring on Newt!!!!!!!!

The conservatives will not have a leg to stand on. This guy has moral issues a mile long.

This guy has been a hypocritical practitioner of oral sex, A dead beat dad,
And had his wife who was recovering from cancer served divorce papers while she was still in the hospital.

www.salon.com...

So oh yes Conservatives please, please, please elect this guy so I can watch the BBQ? Talk about pot calling the kettle black..man if this guy raises his head then the Clintons should never see another moral comment.

And on top of that, while he was busy at the impeachment of Clinton, condemning him for his "indiscretion" he was himself having an affair.
What a hypocrit.

Another possibility for me has popped up recently!

Fred Thompson! Hopefully Newt and Thompson will get into the race and try to "outconservative" each other!

May the best man win. Whoever does out of these two will get my vote!

RRconservative???? As a conservative myself, I must ask. You're joking, right?
Newt Gingrich? Uh, where are the independent parties? This election is going to be ugly for America.

Hilary Clinton- Pfft
Barak Obama- Who knows anything about this guy?
McCain- I like him, but I don't think his temper wil ever allow him to be elected.
Guiliani- Republican base will never vote for him
Newt Gingrich- Oh, dear God, save us all!!

I will probably wind up, as I usually do, voting for some third party candidate. The line-up I see right now is not attractive at all.

Whom ever the GOP decides to run, they better have an exit strategy for the war in Irag. It will be political suicide to talk about "victory" and "mission" in a country torn by civil/religious war. If the GOP guy comes out and talks about "strategic redeployment" he might stand a chance.

To think an arch Conservative can be elected [without another phony 911] is just subscribing to the Rush Dreamland. Even Rush isn't a real conservative; he's an entertainer playing a role, pushing the right ideological buttons and the sheep are eating it up. And making him a billionaire in the process. Good for him. I just don't buy his bag of lies and BS.

It's a brave new world; welcome to the monkey house.

Whoever is elected will be a corporate whore regardless of party.

We have neither a Republic, or Democracy in this country anymore; it's a CORPratracracy or an corporate oligarchy.

As long as people continue to strictly vote Republican or Democrat, things will never get any better in this country. To get it right a third party candidate will have to be elected, and I don't see many Americans that are smart enough to elect a third party candidate. So.. there you have it.

Update!
Let's look at the players....

McCain is done!
Guiliani is currently the front runner. Don't see too much enthusism from the base.
Romney still is not electable.
Thompson still hasn't announced?

Thompson will easily get the nomination...UNLESS he comes out sluggish, then Newt Gingrich will enter and take the nomination.

Whether it is Thompson or Gingrich, one of them will face Mrs. Bill Clinton.

To stay with the thread, let's go with Gingrich. Remember this is a one on one contest for the Presidency.

Mrs. Bill Clinton vs Newt Gingrich

It will be a great battle but Mrs. Bill Clinton's negatives far outweigh Gingrich's. So Gingrich wins!

I'll dirty my hands by posting in this thread. Thompson has a shot imo. He is a hard line conservative. And he's visible. Not a bad thing. Can he play big time politics? That remains to be seen. I think he can. Would I vote for him? Not a chance in hell. I don't vote for people that have no vision beyond partisan politics. You can include Billary in that too.

Newt Gingrich is without a doubt an fruit cake no one other then his supporters and hardcore Republican supporters would vote for him. If Republicans want leave an welcome mat for the Dems in the White House they should nominate Newt IF he runs.

I am sure that Hillary and co would only be to happy if they were to run against Newt Gingrich.

fred thompson is not a conservative, a neo con is more like it. CFRed has a slightly better immigration record than mccain ( grades.betterimmigration.com... ), voted for mccain - feingold and is a memeber of CFR which is a globalist organization and that's just dipping our toes in the water. All of these candidates are nothing but CFR globalist candidates I can't believe the support they get from the 'conservative' base. voting for these guys is like voting for bush again.

if that big government authoritarian ghouliani gets the GOP nod I hope that party fractures, america gets hillary and then regroups back to it's true conservative princples after 4 years of that witch.

as for newt gingrich, he is also a member of CFR and is a globalist. Christ we can't escape. gingrich is also supporter of NAFTA.

Americans for Better Immigration gives him the following grades for his time in Congress: Overall grade: D; Reducing Chain Migration: F-; Reducing Visa Lottery: F-; Reducing Unnecessary Visas: F-; Reducing Asylum Fraud: F-; Reducing Enticements to Illegal Immigration: F-; and Interior Enforcement to Reduce Illegal Immigration: D+. Other than some support for border control, Gingrich has failed america, and conservatives especially, on immigration.

grades.betterimmigration.com...

basically newt is just another establishment goon.

Now there's a moderate holy man!!! While Clinton was busy at the White House, he was even busier.

Yea, Newt would be the best for this already disgraced country.

Dismissing the GOP presidential field as a "pathetic" bunch of "pygmies," Newt Gingrich hinted Monday he might step in to beat Democrats Hillary Rodham Clinton and Barack Obama.

"If, in mid-October, it's quite clear that one or more of the current candidates is strong enough to be a serious alternative to a Clinton-Obama ticket, you don't need me to run," the former House Speaker said at a breakfast sponsored by the American Spectator. "If it becomes patently obvious, as the morning paper points out, that the Democrats have raised a hundred million more than the Republicans, and at some point people decide we are going to get Hillary unless there's a radical change, then there's space for a candidate," he added. "So you'll know by mid-October one of those two futures is real."

It's all up to Fred Thompson! If he comes out weak, Newt Gingrich comes in to save the day!

When "None of the above" is the leading candidate right now for the Republicans, all that tells me is the Republicans are waiting for a real leader!

do you even bother looking at the records of these phoney conservatives? if the GOP puts any one of these guys up they will lose and we will get a socialist democrat.

Dr. Ron Paul is the only man who can beat the democrats, he aces them on every subject, he also has a consistent conservative record unlike the GOP 'frontrunners'.. The current GOP leadership and the GOP 'frontrunners' including Thompson and Newt are a disgrace to conservatism and the conservative movement. The base shrunk for a reason.

I for one can read the writing on the wall. My vote will go to a real conservative, one who can attract conservative blue dog democrats, independents, Libertarians, people who have sat out elections for years, and last but not least, the youth. The democratic leadership ( and the GOP leadership, they are almost the exact same ) are afraid of him for a reason... Infact it's very telling, they are petrified of him.
