What makes the little bar under your name grow?
Mine is staying the same or so it seems. Some peoples is really long and they haven't been here as long as me.
Do I need to do something else?

The length of the bar represents how many posts you have

the bar grows according to the number of posts you make and the color changes as you get applauses from the staff.

I can't remember the thread with the specific explanation or pictures of the exact colours, but here goes.

The length of the bar depends on the number of posts that you have made, i think 4000 fills it.

The colour depends on the number of applauses you have been given, 0-10 is completely grey, and at each set of 10 applauses it goes to the next colour, each more red than the last. If you have enough then it becomes black, like chissler's, Loam's, etc.

Yellow is the staff bar.

if you right click on the bar and select properties, the filename shows the level of the colour from 0-11, although black bars go higher. The alternate text is the post number.

Wow, three replies in 2 minutes.

as one as our clever members would say.....

"You're not the size or color of your bar"

and no, surgery won't fix it

and here I thought applause made my bar get bigger. Acting like a monkey, trying to impress the mods for a bigger bar and it's growing on it's own.

normally I would use smoke and mirrors and go all Copperfield to make my "bar" look bigger but I'll have to go with stutter fingers here.

You know, I'm sure I have clicked it twice but there has been no double post. Oh well, must have been my Imagination.

On a side note, how many of us have the random avatar thing?

Took me a while to find it.

Since this question comes up often,

I think that thread should be a sticky, for quick reference.

Has beautiful graphics illustrating all the issues also the post bar color. It's a little down in the third post. Very extensive work recommended to everybody, newbees and hardcore posters alike.
