Well, this info came up accidentaly in an unrelated court case. Inititaly, it would look like Gletty was an active paid informant for the FBI at the time of the rally.A slip up by the Assistant Federal Public Defender caused questions to be asked about Glettys role in the Neo Nazi march in Feb 2006 iin Orlando, FL. The FBI do not deny that Gletty was at the march, they have no comment about Gletty being the "on scene event manager" and permit holder for the event.

A paid FBI informant was the man behind a neo-Nazi march through the streets of Parramore that stirred up anxiety in Orlando's black community and fears of racial unrest that triggered a major police mobilization.

That revelation came Wednesday in an unrelated federal court hearing and has prompted outrage from black leaders, some of whom demanded an investigation into whether the February 2006 march was, itself, an event staged by law-enforcement agencies.

My view..
He was being paid by the FBI...why would they let a known FBI informant organize a rally like this? There would be better uses for an informant other than causing a city govt to pay tens of thousands of dollars on security. Why would another govt agency think that this was a good idea? Should the FBI be accountable for reembursment..or didn't the FBI know what gletty was up to?!

It was a operation to keep people on edge or as some type of experiment to gauge recations. It wouldn't be the first time the govt has 'paid' for ..news..or set up situations to look like something that they are not. At the very least, the FBI/govt were ..complacent...seems to be a theme....

this stinks

they can monitor peaceful and nonviolent groups and spy on average americans but they can't keep track of their own informant and his other activities?

how could it not be sanctioned by the government, or at least the FBI. They had to have known all this of man's activities, dealings and affiliations since they were using him. sick.

By being an informant, Getty is the channel through which the FBI is able to monitor the group. Thats how they monitor any group, they have someone, usually in an administrative position, feed them information, while carrying on as usual.

Well some hard questions and answers need to be sought. The naming of an undercover agent in such a manner is clearly unacceptable.
As for Gletty organizing a rally would have allowed to compare a list suspects to the people who showed up at the pro Nazi rally.

Besides, the FBI lets people carry out murderous attacks while they're informants, so organizing a legal (though reprehensible) protest barely even rates.

Interseting to note though that there was that flurry of KKK/Neonazi activity previously, and now the news is reporting that the KKK is 'growing' and 'gaining strength'.

The media has a habit of creating , exaggerating and selectively reporting story's to suit there agenda and fill in slow news days.

They do this crap all the time.

Anyone remember 'Whitey' Bulger?

Whitey Bulger (10 Most Wanted) was Apparently an FBI Informant

The guy is a big-fish as far as the bureau is concerned, possibly because he committed murders while on the FBI payroll, and even used his FBI connections to further his own criminal enterprise.

I guess the FBI puts a lot of stock in that old saying, if you can't beat 'em, join 'em.

:shk:

I knew the "mad bombers of new england" back in the 70's. Not well and not well enough to know what they were actually up to but I knew them enough to party with them. Dickie Piccarillo and Thomas Manning etc.

They started out as a prison reform group called SCAR in Thompson prison in Maine. Most of the guys formed it and belonged were in for petty crimes but as I understand it the conditions in that prison at the time were horrible. Well just before the main group of members were about to be released this guy, whose name I forget joined them and became an active member of SCAR.

Once they were out they continued the group and started studying social and political issues and like lots of groups in those days became politicized and developed a socialist ideology. Well this guy started encouraging them to "act out" their ideology and before all was said and done there had been several bank robberies, an attempt to kidnap a Kodak ex. a bombing at Logan airport and another at a northern Maine power plant. The case was blown open as it were when that guy was busted running guns between Portland Me. and Quebec.

Well the whole lot of the were arrested and put on trial and it came out during the lead up to the trial that the guy who had joined them right at the end of their original jail time... who encouraged their drift into political studies and not only encouraged them to plan these acts but helped plan and execute them, was present at each one... was an FBI plant from the day he entered prison.

Now in my book that is called entrapment but the judge would not throw out the case. nor would he allow the fact that this fellow was an FBI plant from day one be presented at the trial. I believe to this day that all they were really guilty of was going along with this guy and if he had not been the one proposing these crimes and being the driving force behind them... they would have never happened.

At one point the defense team was going to have the Lawyer William Kunstler come up to Maine for a talk to help raise money. A hall was rented and tickets were sold and the day of the lecture he never showed. The next day he called up Dickie's wife and asked how the blizzard was and she was like...what blizzard? Seems he got as far as Logan and was told all flights into Maine were canceled as was bus service because of a major blizzard up there. Granted it was Maine and it was Feburary but we hadn't had any snow for a couple weeks.I remember that quite distinctly.
