Ok, cant change you there but maybe I could persuade you to say 'most men are dumb'? Seems like it gives a fair chance for the other males on ATS, because I see alot of bright intelligent males here.

Wellllllll!!!!! Ok..I'll go along with that in the arena of dealing with women. I too see alot of bright intelligent males on here. I just dont see them so much when it comes to dealing with women or the females in relationships. I find it rather odd for a species ..males who are supposed to be agressive etc etc..to get sometimes lost when dealing with the female of the species. It's like...Wow!!! Education and the military didnt train me for this......DUHHHHH!!!!!

I would love to carry that on a bit further. Corporations not only play on insecurities but they create them too. They also play up on the fear of failure and death.

You know...I've wondered this angle myself. I have often wondered how many times corporations and advertisers have worked to put people on a problem with themselves or thier product as the solution and the problem is actually a placebo.

i]Do you have links or some evidence to support this claim? There is a fellow poster on ATS, he was in the advertising industry for some time, Ill have to ask him what he thinks of your statement.

With males it goes very pubescent..like you must have this or that car ..because you never see a ugly girl get out of one.
Diamond ads are also textbook and play on the role of male to female giving with the implicitness that goes with it ..not the explicitness.

I dont watch sports ...like football, baseball, basketball, Hockey. My comments such as "How about those LA Lakers are in the spirit of being facetious. I dont like the advertisement for the males during the games..much less the games themselves.

I will occasionally watch a fishing program such as are becoming popular now days. Or some particular category in the Olympics but mostly sports does not intrest me...and the advertising level and appeal is just the same.
THe amount paid by manufacturers through advertisers...for prime time slots is indicative of how much they think they can put us on the string. No thanks. I am a channel surfer to get away from commercials and find something worthy to watch...often with "No Joy!!"

Dont get me wrong..I am not against sports per se..I just am not intrested in a bunch of guys going out on a field and beating each other up. Not intrested in this. Sports requires careful thought, teamwork, dicipline etc etc..I understand this. No problem.

It is early morning here. Im the night owl type. I ve been out changing the water pump in my Fathers car. Time for me to get cleaned up and some shut eye.

Thanks for your post.

In the matter of sports, Sun Tzu advised that one way to defeat your enemy without firing a shot was to distract them with "competitions" or other "matters of no importance".
How many matters of no importance are men AND women being distracted with in our current cultural climate? Women have beauty treatments (nails, hair, facials, etc.); men have sports and porn. It seems we're all defeated easily by wasting our time with matters of no importance.
To address injustice: laws (rules) must be easily understood and consistently enforced. This is not the case between the sexes. Women do tend to get lighter sentences for the same crimes that imprison men for years. (This is not true in Oklahoma which has the highest female prison population in the nation.)
If we acknowledge that there are innate differences between the sexes (vive la difference!) then the question that needs answering is: how do we equitously apply these laws to achieve true justice? While there can be justice, there will never be "equality" between the sexes because there can never be equality between people. With no disrespect to our founding fathers, all men are not created equal. Some have more intelligence, ability, courage, etc. Male or female, those with the more useful traits will excel while those with lesser endowments will become politicians. lol.

I was doing just fine with the main text of your position until I hit this portion of your post and lost control ....spitting out my vegatable soup and crackers in the process.

LOL LOL LOL...it is funny but sadly there is also a measure of truth to your statement and rationale.

I have often had olde timers reflect to me that persons of any talent go into private markets for work/employment ..while those with only marginal talents go into government work. I have found this to be mostly true.

Thanks for your post Whitewave. I will try to control myself much better the next time.

can i just say that i am more confident, brave driven and competative than 90% of the men around my parts.
i also have yet to find a man who can beat me at an arm wrestle, im anti femine at all either im training to make wedding dresses and i dont work out that much ive always been this way.
i think women arent aloud in society to be like this they are expected to have children and cook even today i find this.
people still cant understand why i want a career instead of children including my own mother.

hope i don't sound like a sexist but i think part of the reason men and women are not equal is because men are more driven, competetive, more brave and confident, and physicaly stronger. And i believe this gives man the edge over women in society wrongly or rightly it's just nature.

also thank you so much the orginal poster.
this is one of the reasons im not religious all main stream religions oppress women, good movies to watch on this subject are mona lisa smile, and magdalene sisters.

a friend of mine married a man young they were cathlics he was a drunk and abusive and she refused to leave him because her priest said it was a sin.
he even tryed to hit me when i went to there house once im not a violent person but he had a missing tooth and some broken ribs at the end of the night no man or woman will hit me.

no offense, but you dont sound like a very attractive woman. I mean by the sounds of it, you think you can kick ass and i would love to go drywall with you sometime, but you might have trouble finding a mate.

why would you rather a career than children? what are you going to get out of a career? careers dont teach you anything about life, nor do they give you anything worth living for. and if it does, your a messed up person completely brainwashed from television and destiny child.
you attitude towards the role of your gender, does not change the role of your gender. you might be fine with children now (maybe a chip on your shoulder) but i have a feeling one day you may change your mind.

careers don't give you anything worth living for, they just give you the means to live....

everybody should have one.

i didn't say ungly, i said unatractive, and congradulations on your engagment. you have found one of the few males out there that are able to deal with woman in charge. it doesn't surprise me, there are apparently men out ther that enjoy the feeling of another mans genetiles up their #ss.

If you are the way you say you are then i suspect you and your mate either compete a lot, or he is an out right sissy that enjoys female domination.

iv'e heard marriage is sacrafice, so i dont see how that means that both partners do the exact same thing, and are alotted the same opportunities.

why is a man classsed as gay because he doesnt boss his partner around.
we share all responsibilitys.
if im off work ill do all the cooking but the same princibil goes for him and he agrees.
is a house husband a gay because he cares for the children and his wife goes out and earns.

i dont want children whats so wrong with that why if a man says that its ok but when a woman says that the witch hunt comes after her.
i might change my mind but at the monent im quite happy with a good career and some geogous pets

Dont want children.... iv'e met a couple 40 somethings that have made the decision in thier past not to have children, (pissed off at their parents for not giving them enought love) and they prentend to stick by it cause that was their decision. I know it burns them up inside. maybe not when they are all alone or with their spouce that feels the same way, but after whitnessing enough families and thier adventures it will eventually grow into a resentment.

not wanting children is something that you decided after witnessing and experiencing things that made you think this way. It was not supposed to be like this, im really sorry that you do not find joy in the one thing that all humans have in common; the will to reproduce.

My wife and I still have the two cats that we called "our children" before our son was born. I still love those cats but it will never come close to the connection you feel for a new born child knowing it is you. I cant tell you exactly what the experience is like, it makes me want to cry just thinking about it , but it is the most beautifull, heartwarming, exciting, spiritual... i dont know, but believe, you obviously dont know what you are missing.

ive seen an article on a study that says those parents with incomes $20,000/yr or less and $75,000/yr or more, were the parents with the most involvement in the childrens school. this tells me those that dont have money, and those that dont need to care as much about money are the ones that have the most involvment in their childrens schools. when you make $20,000 a year, you know where your money is going. $35,000 a year and the expense of a child, could make you feel like you have to watch your money too much or you wont get the luxeries YOU injoy if you sacrafice for a child.

People need to stop wanting to shop so much and care more for their children, and the whold purpose of thier existance. Did we get to the top of the food chain by shopping? or by passing knowledge on from one generation to the next?

you and your partners set up sounds great, my wife and i did the same thing, but i admit that it made it harder for her once we had a child, (my idea) and she has gone through periods of depression wishing that i was involved more. it has taken intervention from both her mother and mine to help us both understand that that is just how it works. I was getting stressed out because i couldn't help her as much as i wanted and she was stressed out because she though she was alone in raising TJ. (travis jr)

but we are both doing our part. one of us needs to gather food and one of us nees to make sure TJ is warm and well fed. It is a great responcibility especially at a young age, but i knew once i seen him come out that this is what im here for, im no longer travis, im TJ's father.

well, let's see....people making less than $20,000, at least here in america, if they have kids, are under the guidelines for medicaid, food stamps, hud and such....they don't have to worry about how they are gonna keep a roof over their heads, or buy the baby the medicine he needs to live, ect...
if it's just the husband making the less than $20,000, then well, their needs are being taken care of, why should the wife work, and well, quite frankly, if she does work, there's a good chance that it will increase their income to the point where they don't qualify for any of these, or any assistance for child care for the child....and the cost of the child care far exceeds the minimum wage, so they could be worse off....

above $75,000, well, they don't have to struggle as hard to provide the modest necessities in life...they can afford to take a day off of work once in awhile for the kids sake...

but, somewhere between those two groups there's another group, who are struggling just to keep a roof over their head, can't afford the baby's medicine, can't subsidize the childcare with the primary earner's salary, and well, they aren't making it...mom might be home, but with no transportation to the school, they can only keep one car on the road....dad might be working two jobs just to keep their heads up out of the water. it's not that they're spending too much, it's that his paycheck isn't covering the basics....

and ya know what.....as much as I love my kids, the most heartbreaking thing I have ever felt in life is knowing that my kids needed or even wanted something real bad, and not having the power to do anything about it!

the perfect little household where dad works and mom stays home with the kids and all is great is one of those default settings that in many cases doesn't work. layoffs happen, paychecks shrink, prices for the necessities increase, dads get selfish, or dads disappear.....
and that other little default setting that the religious organizations would like to see back in place, the one where men runs the show, and women just follow along, well, that tends to make women for the most part helpless when things go to heck. unable to respond to her own conscious when it's screaming at her that something is very, very wrong. if the kid needs medicine, at least if the wife is working, and the husband decides that the rent, or the electric bill, or hey, that new computer game is more important, well, she has the paycheck, the right, and the obligation to go and get the kid's medicine herself! it's basic bs to give her let her shoulder the obligation of caring for the kid, feeding the kid, making sure the kid is healthy, clothed, and warm.....and then, denying her the means to be able to gain
the funds necessary to do it!!!

and let me ask you something, would you want to be in the house all day and night, caring for your kids...without a break? no, think you would go nuts!! guess what, being women doesn't make one that much different!!
it might be the way things are, but it by no means is the way things have to be.
