seems like they are going to do a hindu style concert again to save our planet from climate change. they did not exactly help much for the africans they sang for 20 years ago.

LOS ANGELES (Reuters) - Environmental activists led by former U.S. Vice President Al Gore announced plans on Thursday for a worldwide string of pop concerts in July featuring Sheryl Crow, Red Hot Chili Peppers and scores of others to mobilise action to stop global warming.

The Live Earth concerts on July 7 will take place in London, Shanghai, Sydney, Johannesburg, and cities to be decided in Brazil, Japan and the United States. There also will be a live performance in Antarctica.

it seems maybe some sort of human collective experiment to bring some positive attitude to the planet before 2012. do you think things like this work. they say they want to reach 2 billion people.

also notice the date, which is going to be 7/7/7. seems numerolgy at work here to.

what are your thoughts on this.

Well that'll help then... won't it?

Dammit! Not another pointless night of pontificating popsters talking crap and trying to feed us a guilt trip about global warming.
There is also the matter of jetting in to the event and consuming all that energy to put on the pointless show

Still, a good photo op for Tony Bliar and other talking head politicos

the only thing that interests me is that they will be holding it on, 7/7/7

algore must be into alot of new age stuff. but your right about him not stopping flying everywhere. see in the news clip above, he states that he keeps most of his lectures in usa to save on flying.

i wonder how many air miles he does every year

I wonder how much good this will do to GW

Okay, 2 bilion is more than a bunch, anyway a little naivety might be needed to think a mass of people like that will go home and change their carbon footprint by next day.

Somehow an impact in the scale of a shift of paradigm is urgently needed though -- not sure a global mega gig can do it.

With a little luck they may equal what it takes out of the carbon account for getting this thing up and running. A few million airmiles it's sure to take, not to mention the amount of cattering and the 2 billion+ recycleable plastic jars to the giga galons of beer it for sure will take.

Hope it'll be a lotta fun for those participating.
