A salmonella outbreak that has slowly grown to nearly 300 cases in 39 states since August has been linked to tainted peanut butter, federal health officials said Wednesday.

The Food and Drug Administration warned consumers not to eat certain jars of Peter Pan or Great Value peanut butter because of the risk of contamination.

The affected jars have a product code on the lid that begins with the number "2111." The affected jars are made by ConAgra in a single facility in Sylvester, Ga., the FDA said.

There are a lot of food contamination cases lately. We have had ecoli in spinach and other vegetables. Now we have salmonella in peanut butter. It is one thing to have such contamination show up in meats since people tend to already know to handle their food a certain way, but how does the public handle contaminated peanut butter? There does not seem to be any foods free from contamination risk.

there should be legislation that mandates that all foods contain a high degree of persevatives and anti-bacterial,anti-virals ect.. so as to protect us...or legislation mandating that all foods be made with GM products that have been made to kill these dangerous bacterias...we need the govt and corps to protect us from things like this....it is our safety and well being at sake here.....
...
...
...there does seem to be alot of these..bacterias... going around....
of course, i say it is a ploy..the beginnings of a ....push...to the above....

Even if it is just a coincidence itll still be used as a push for more legislation, more government oversight, more reasons to tax us.

Because the FDA hasnt killed enough people yet.

Maybe a vaccine will be developed and a law passed to force us all to take it or be imprisoned. Or if we dont take our kids to get it DCF will take them away to the states custody.

God, I hate the government.

I do not think that there should be more stuff added to the foods. There are too many antibacterial stuff used now which has created bacteria which is resistant to antibacterials.
