That's my old unit. I was stationed there for 3 years.

While we were there, many times 'terrorists' would launch rockets into the base. They were lame attacks. They were actually 'polite' terrorists. They would say that the could cause real harm if they wanted to, but all they wanted was for their messages to be heard.

(the messages were mostly ... America leave Japan.)

I lived at Sagami Depot, which was a housing area and small post off the main Camp Zama post. I worked at Camp Zama. Out at Sagami Depot there were many old, empty storage buildings and that is also were a lot of the fuel was stored.

..... stored in storage faciltiies riiiiiiiiiiiight next to the fence.
Easily accessable by people hoping the fence .. or by a small rocket.

I'm getting the impression this a minor event and given what FF is saying it could just be a similar event to those mentioned.

I wasn't aware of these Japanese terrorists/activists though.

That's because they are LAME terrorists. Seriously.

They are polite. Picture the politeness of the Japanese people (whom I absolutely ADORE) .. and now picture polite terrorists.

We used to have 'rockets' launched all the time. They didn't have bombs on them. They might hit something and catch that something on fire. They might actually hit a fuel bin .... (most of which were put right near the fences at Sagami Depot ). The MPs or the local police would find 'launch pads' near the fence line every so often.

Launch pads - picture model rockets and those launch pads but just SLIGHTLY bigger.

They are not real terrorists in any stretch of the imagination. They are referred to in Japan by the Japanese as 'terrorists' ... but they really aren't.

FOX news had it headlines as an 'alert' across the top of their web page .. but it is now completely off the page.

Seriously .. this is nothing. It is so 'nothing' that the news agencies can't even build it up to make it look like something.

Official Camp Zama warning page ... all conditions 'NORMAL'. Even the schools are doing just fine.
