The Birth Of Robocop?

Now i know its pretty basic, but the idea is cool.
In this video, a armed hostage taker eventually releases his hostages, but to protect the officers lives they send in this armor plated robot, that can climb stairs, fitted with a camera, and a 2 way communication device.

The gunman takes three shots at this robot, one at point blank range, which doesn't bother the robot at all, he then takes a shot at the main power lead attached to the robot that extends outside, which disables the robot, but not the camera.

Now i know its not like the Robocop as we know, but the idea's there.
If it had its own armor protected power supply, and fitted with some sort of weapon what could this guy of done?

Imagine what these things will be like in the future, as its being put to good use now.
