are strictly text. No actual voice recordings. Therefore, suspect, at best.

Yes and we were warned to stay away. This would certainly explain the lack of subsequent Moon exploration since then!

For some reason I have a hard time believing that a race so advanced that they could travel to earth from wherever would honestly care about the moon. Maybe Earth, but as far as they'd be concerned the moon is about as valuable as a large chunk of floating cheese in space. Only less edible.

I think if anything it says that politicians aren't very long term thinkers when it comes to budgeting for NASA. Sad as it is, NASA has a pretty limited budget and simply can't afford to go sending missions back to the moon just for kicks. There has to be some sort of monentary benefit to this before we can expect the guys in Washington to start handing out money for missions. Meaning I wouldn't expect much until some private corporations start making proposals for strip mining the moon.

Bush going to war with aliens... yeah thats real smart...

Guess they have to keep the public in fear of something, dont they... "we may be on the verge of intergalactic war". Riiiight....

It must have been the cryptic warnings of an alien race...the spiraling costs of the Vietnam War and the "Great Society" programs, combined with increasing public apathy toward the Moon landings couldn't possibly have any impact at all on the decision to stop spending money on the Apollo program...and the cost of re-starting the program after the production lines were shut down and dismantled, and the skilled workforce to run the lines was hired into new jobs wouldn't in any way explain why we didn't go back in the 80's or 90's.

While I'm more than open to the idea of alien civilizations, they don't represent a Universal Answer To Everything. Sometimes, it's mundane things like politics and money.
