Hey, I just got done watching the movie Independence Day, and I realized that what if something similar to the invasion that happened in that movie(if
you never saw the movie then I'll summarize it for you: a whole bunch of city-size spaceships positioned themselves above all the major cities in the
world and destroyed them and then did the same to several more untill the united states came up with a way to plant a virus in the spaceships to
render their force-fields unoperational buying the world enough time to destroy them) could happen to us in the near future...would it really be that
easy to win against aliens that have technologies that are thousands of years more advanced than ours?
In the movie, after almost all the world's cities are destroyed they still have enough planes and ammunition to take down dozens and dozens of
spaceships the size of NYC.
Do you think it would REALLY be that easy if an alien invasion ever occured on earth?

You must be reading my mind because when I first saw that film and based on what I knew at the time I thought it pure bunk.
But increasingly I have to consider many aspects of the film to be less fictional but more prophetic.
For example they would come with hugh mother ships. They may initiate some kind of contact but probably more formal than they show in 'ID.'
The aliens in the film seem similar to accounts of Praying Mantis type aliens discussed by several abductees around the world too.

I thought the aliens in ID looked like Greys, but they are inside some type of organic battlesuits.

What about the movie "Mars Attacks", what if that's an accurate depiction of alien contact?

I prefer the Battlefield Earth scenario...where they kick our asses in under 15mins.....thats a little more realistic....only sucky thing about that
film is the harriers working after 1000 years...oh and being fully fueld up!

I agree with you, except in ID they had ears, and the greys don't, but other than that they fit the grey description perfectly.

If there was a intergalactic battle like the one proposed in ID I would see the situation being very similiar. With the main ship docked off into
space controlling all other ships that are attacking. As far as them being greys, I dont think they looked much like them at all. They had all kinds
of "octupus type things" coming off the back of their heads.

if this happend?
well, we couldnt infect there computers becouse it would be like trying to use plutonem to power a gasoline engen...
so, i would think they would win, and we couldnt use are "nukes" onthem
if any of you know anything about ufo's you would know that one reguler sized ship shut down 12 missle silowes acrose the world.....
and if they did this, another alein race might help us?

Sorry, I forgot about that.
But for the most part, they had "grey features"
-removable outer covering
-telapathic communication
-skin color:grey
-large heads
-noticeable eyes
also, the craft that was at area 51 in ID was disk-shaped with a "fin" protruding from the top, the same description of the spaceships that greys
supposedly use.

Good points, the dual bodied entities points to the idea of cybergenetic robots which the grays are said to be.
I think the whole idea of the films of this nature is to point out that mankind will purservere in this great technological onslaught by only being
morally supeior to the attackers.
Notice the suggestion that an innocent and simple person with good intent and bravery will win the day?
Notice how the solutions are found by exploiting weakness which any system inevitably has.
Notice how humanity suffers near total destruction but wins in the end, a new beginning so to speak.

WHAT??? I'm not being offensive, but the chance of another alien race helping us defeat them would be, like, 1 in 75 million.
Consider it for a minute. If I was the leader of another alien race besides the one invading us in this scenario and I witnessed the greys attacking
the humans, I wouldn't jump in and spontaeneously help the humans and risk a major war between my civilization and the greys for some primitive human
race that I'd never officially contacted before. Doubtless I'd be overthrown in no time.

No, I have not researched ufos from way back when jesus was on earth, and I know that there are probably many ships from different planets/times, but
take a look at cars: there are several car dealerships and each have their own design for the cars they manufacture/sell.
So other spaceships from other worlds wouldn't neccessarily look the same, the would be built to suit the civilization that uses them.
My point was that the spaceship in ID was SIMILAR to the kind the grey use, not another alien race.

but why wouldn't other aliens assist us? Could it be that our enemies are also their enemies? Maybe they would fear the spread of the aggressive
aliens culture and power?
Why do we equate alien behaviour as being much different that all that observed by studying human history over thousands of years?
What if the struggle between light and dark is universal at all levels and all places at all times except beginning and the end of this universal
cycle?

You have a point there, THENEO.
I guess our enemies might be their enemies, too, but what would the point be of protecting a civilization that you have no aliances with? About the
spread of the aggressive aliens' culture and power, what effect would it have here at the edge of the Milky Way Galaxy, light years and light years
away from any other sentient race?

If aliens invade, it'll be ok.
We'll just upload a computer virus to their ships.
I'm sure the aliens use the same programming software as us.
(I can't believe the 'Independence Day' script writers went with that)

No it wouldn't come true because the movie was crap, and God would not allow crap movies to become real. - its a cosmic law...
Come on would they be defeated with a virus sent up from a primitive earth computer?
Are we lucky enough to have a working alien ship, that fits human shapes and is easily flown by humans on the very first time?? I doubt it.
Is there even a purpose on the aliens "Attacking" earth? Why? Surely its better to work with only the worlds leaders and let the ignorant masses
remain so. What do they gain from it? Nothing...
Bad fiction is best kept as bad fiction.... (Like Stargate)

You wouldn't even see where an alien attack is coming from if it happened. Intelligent aliens would not land or even be in earth's atmosphere to
shoot at us. They'd be way up in orbit or even just in deep space shooting at the planet and avoiding potential danger altogether. Movies have to
have drama and allow the good guys to win, so of course aliens would be stupid and actually get close enough to earth to allow themselves to be shot
at and destroyed.
