The pictures from the OP are completly different. Just look at the stuff that i've analyzed and worked on, and you'll be fine.
BTW: Auroras appear in the north and not in australia (south), so much to that.

While the Aurora Autralis or Southern Aurora doesn't usually appear as far North as Australia it is in the South and I have seen reports that there is some unusual activity with it appearing further North recently..Aurora Australis
I'm not saying this is what the OP saw just that it does exist in the south

disownedsky when I took the pictures I was lieing on my back with the view finder right up to my eye. I also took some of them while the camera was rested on top of a table, for that I also used some books to get the angle right.
bergle there was no sound at all and yes they were luminous.
I hope that answers some questions
heres some more pictures, I havent croped these or edited, re-saved them in anyway:

Sorry to say this, but..
1" exposure + camera held against face + star = a very fuzzy star
Not a UFO..
Try and repeat, with same settings and 2 or 3 random stars, and you will see this.
This is the reason people use tripods, especially when shutter speeds approach 1 second.. add to that, zoom, and you don't have a snow ball's chance in hell of getting a pin-point star with those settings, and without a tripod.
Better luck next time
