Since 9/11, her predecessor was entitled to use a private AF jet to ensure his safety. She wants the same thing, except bigger.



Personally I think she would be better off in coach with the real people she ostensibly serves - you know, the ones who pay her salary.

This is just another sign that both parties are only interested in one thing..what they can get for themselves.

If the Republicans were still in power, and Hastert wanted a big jet, the Dems would be up in arms.

I agree. It was just as bad when Hastert was getting the use of a military plane. They do not need a military escort to travel to their districts. Fly coach like everyone else.

Since the Speaker of the House is only two heartbeats away from the Presidency, I don't think it's a bad idea to provide her with military transport.

However, it does seem Pelosi's demands were excessive, as she refused any plane that had to make a refueling stop between D.C. and California and also wanted enough room in the plane for all her staff and family. This leads me to believe that she wasn't interested in any government continuity issues, just the comfort and luxury of a special Air Force plane for her and her friends and family. She's not the President, she certainly doesn't deserve her own Air Force 1!

I agree she should fly coach - they all should, from the President on down.

That doesn't seem unreasonable. If she is getting a jet, might as well be one that can carry her family and staff, and that can take her from her district to her office.
