As others have said on this thread, there were at least two major events in 97 that night.

The first has eyewitnesses but no real photgraphic evidence as a large, silent black object made it's way south through AZ. The other one is the "Phoenix lights" and were most probably flares. Since this one is the one with video and news reports, it is assumed to be the only event of the night. I don't really doubt the flares explanation for the second event or this current one, there is still much doubt about what, if anything, was happening with the first set of events in 1997.

I believe Gazrok has a very indepth thread about the 97 lights here on ATS.

Simple logic here everyone, if they are military flares then why doesn't the military just tell everyone that they will recreate the situation again on a specific date and time?

Sounds simple enough to me, if they say it is flares.....show us.

Well, according to the last link they are going to do just that.

You might want to keep your eyes on the night sky Wednesday night. Several Valley residents called 12 News Tuesday night reporting lights in the sky. You can expect a similar scene on Wednesday night.

Yuma says they were performing training operations in the Northwest, East and West portions of the range that involved dropping flares.

The same type of training is expected Wednesday night after dark.

wow i havent seen this footage before...... those look like spotlights to me. maybe we could compare that with actual flare footage video in the dark eh?

great video find azdog

what's with the light/flare that appeared and dissappeared in between the other lights. very odd behavior for flares I would think. and in another video it seemed that flares had sideways trails...or am i just bugging out.

Herein lies the problem.

Give me enough time and I can get video footage at 29 Palms of flares from a great distance.

The real problem with this video is the guy who shot it "probably" has his camera on auto, which in all my night shoot footage, becomes way to bright wich distorts detail.

BTW, I had no audio on this clip. Quite annoying,it would be nice to hear what the photog was stating when filming.

Obvisouly the close proximity of the street lights are also greatly affecting his detail.

If I were a betting man, those are flares. The one odd thing is the light that goes "on and off" eveery few seconds as it spans the distance of the 4 stationary lights. Probably a helicoper or small moving cessna (or like).

I just find it too convenient on the same day 10 years later to see 'almost' the same thing. It is hoaxers, in my opinion or a huge cover up.

The more times I view that clip, it seems the moving light between the "other lights", is much closer than the line of lights.

I dunno, nice someone caught them, but it doesn't add up.

one thing that this whole event needs are infared cameras or ultraviolet cameras which i dont think anybody would try to pull out. that is the key

Im sorry if this has been answered already, its late and I have just skimmed through this thread.
Exactly what kind of flares are they claiming that these are? The one thing i noticed about these objects is that they all seem to keep the same altitude.
I would think that even if theyre dropped at the same time and height etc. that they would eventually drift apart from one another and wouldnt hold such an orderly, uniform pattern like they are doing.
Are they free falling or do they have parachutes attached to them?
On another note, Its very strange that were having so many sightings in such a short amount of time.
Its even stranger to have so much major media coverage of these events. It would be great to finally have the "ufo stigma" lifted from the world.
It would be even cooler if the govt is maybe trying to condition us, prior to some type of announcement

No way are those flares. The objects in that video stayed stationary for over 4 minutes, with another object blinking on and off beside them. They did not change altitude neither. Flares do not show this type of behavior.

Something is going on...what the hell is up with all of these UFO lights lately? It's happening all over the world.

How long are flares ment to burn for? Seems like a long time to me

flares can burn for up to 15 minutes

So every 10 years the Air Force trains A-10 pilots over Phoenix using flares?

If I am allowed to play the Devil's Advocate: This second video delegitimize to some extent the original Phoenix sighting. What is the difference between two events? They look pretty similar. The first event has a significance, because it was supported by enthusiasm and amazement of masses.

I also only skimmed the thread as I am pushed for time but did not see this point...

IF, they are flares, it would be very easy for them to re-create it at will and put it to bed....but they don't!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Just re-create it in the daytime, in the night, let's throw up loads of these flares and show the world just how simple the explanation really is. Oops, they can't or won't....there's your answer.

becuase its a waste of their time and resources, besides i think the military quite like the idea that people think their exercises are ET activity. They can all have a good laugh when they see the reports on the news.

I've seen interviews with engineers who worked on balloons at area 51, they would launch one then take bets on how long it would take for someone to report a UFO. Sure enough practically every single launch they had reports from the public on ufos

The aliens may have decided to ratchet up the public awareness of them. They may have their own disclosure agenda that disregards the military's program of suppression of information. This influx of ufos may reach such a massive scale that it will be more than the military can handle or suppress.

Casino, thanks for your excellent job of discrediting my intellegence.

That will go a long way in explaining those Phoenix lights.

Truthfully, it is actually disheartening that you can't post about UFOs on a forum named ATS (Above Top Secret) without a bunch of "over-skeptics" dancing out of the woodwork to "insistently" show us we don't know what we are seeing. Notice I said "over-skeptics," because all of us can be skeptical given questionable evidence. I don't buy into every theory by any means.

Sometimes I wonder, though, "Are you looking at the same evidence we are?"

Anyway, those Pheonix lights were very well placed if they were flares. That's quite a feat coming from a moving airplane.

Besides that, wouldn't we see them dropping into place, and not just lighting up in a specific locations if they were flares?

Also if I was a reporter with a helicopter I think I would have flown my butt a tad closer instead of staying 100 miles away like that guy did. LOL

You're a braver person than I.

Personally I feel that this is not a military exercise but another example of an upcoming wave that will start slow but progressively get more dramatic.

Prote I am with you 100%. I mentioned the same thing earlier in the thread, but I am going to add a twist here.

If they do recreate it and it doesn't work to their liking they will blame it on wind, or weather conditions, this if the only scape goat they could use, in a recreation.

That is why I stated the Flare comparison thread I think every UFO believe should help build in order to have hard evidence to show skeptics, when it comes to flare claims. I am so sick and tired of hearing the Flare excuse.

www.abovetopsecret.com...

I hope everyone will use it as a tool to point back to.
