Namibia: 3 Slain Over Cellphone

THREE young men died a violent, random death in Windhoek this weekend when a male nurse allegedly went on a shooting spree at a shebeen at the Katutura Single Quarters.

The 36-year-old nurse, who works at the Katutura State Hospital, was arrested after the shooting rampage shattered the peace at Shixwandu Shebeen at around 13h45 on Friday.

That must have been one of those "diamond encrusted" PDiddy models....

What an awful way to die.

I guess nothing displays it better than that... nowadays possessions are often more important to people than lives.

It seems that this type of crime is quite the problem in South Africa, in this article posted today,

Cellphone theft linked to violent crime,

A prime target for robbers & thieves is money and cellphones, maybe this nurse had his phone stolen before and decided to defend his phone at all costs? Who knows?

In December last year, high court judge Thumba Pillay, said: "Owning a cellphone, is fast becoming something of a liability. It is an invitation to predators... who do not think twice about pulling the trigger to achieve their objective."

He was handing down sentences to three robbers who were convicted for a spree of murder, rape and robbery on KwaZulu-Natal's North Coast.

Note to self: Do not take cellphone on golf trip to South Africa.....
