'Enhanced Fujita' adds 28 indicators to track type of damage

SAN ANTONIO, Texas - A new U.S. scale to more accurately assess tornado damage was launched Thursday, adding a list of 28 damage indicators such as building and tree types to the way destruction is measured.

"The 28 damage indicators ... give us a more accurate reading as far as damage is concerned," said Daniel McCarthy, a warning coordination meteorologist with the National Storm Prediction Center.

I've alway thought that the 0-5 rating could use some work. Sounds like they are evolving. Maybe this will help out some way

Your're probably right about the insurance.

But in the long haul..a More accurate history of storms, and damage, would aid
researchers, when looking for trends.

Thanks, that's my own artwork and face.
Maybe this thread needs a tornado though.
